Hi ,I'm a new member.I'm half way through replacing fillings, and have been feeling awful since the last visit to the dentist.I have had a few better days, but the days are never together and do not seem to follow any predictable pattern. I am grateful for the good days because it's like a glimpse of what my future health can be!It gives me hope. It's tricky though having a good day because I feel so good, let's say after 1or 2 bad weeks of low energy,I tend to want to do everything all at once and end up exhausted again, and when I feel good it's hard to hold back from life...and all the things I would love to do when I feel better.... I have been given conflicting advice by dentist &natural practioner &nutritionist, some saying animal protein (organic of course)is better for metal detox, others said meat is too acidic and alkaline environment is better for dealing with the metal?? Does anyone know anything about this. (My body definitely feels stronger on days when I eat animal protein&the following day.) Thanks

Hello and welcome Sunflower.
Yes, I had the same conflicting information, but I found the same thing, I felt better when I was eating meat.
Apparently with mercury problems, vegetarians don’t get better and meat eaters do. Helps with removing the stuff from yr body.
I think it’s a wise thing to listen to your body, if u feel better on meat….eat meat. Now I try to eat some meat everyday. I make sure it is organic or at least free range and not just the cheap stuff off the shelf.
I hope you are having removal with protection??? Rubber dam? Oxygen? Mercury free dentist? – I didn’t for my first amalgam removal, and it screwed me up. screwed me up big time.
If u haven’t already been recommended/heard of/bought/stolen, then this book explains all. Amalgam Illness by Andy Cutler. He really knows his stuff. If u do have mercury poisoning the cost of this book will be the best money u will ever spent on anything.

Hello and Welcome, I agree about the meat seems to help give me energy. From all I 've read on the subject taking in protein helps with the detox. Dr. Mercola has a page on mercury detox protocol that might help. [color:"purple"] [/color] Mercury Detoxification Protocol

Hi Sunshine, thankyou for reply.I know the meat makes me feel better and usually just listen to my body.I get confused with the conflicting ideas though but generally I am the master of my own health.Yes I went to a holistic dentist, who used all precautions, except the rubber dam,but had a kind a vacuum that sits over the tooth with a tiny hole in the side for the drill to fit in.He said it was more effective &I was happy with that. But since the last visit,I have learned alot from different people &especially the herballure website.so full of great info. In 2 weeks I'll go back &get the last 5 out. It's a long journey but I'm going in the right direction... Thanks. Is that a light saber in the photo,my 4yr old son loves starwars he is here beside me now &likes the pic!

Hi Sunflower, well done for going to a decent dentist, it is very important.
Just going back to Dr Joseph Mercola and his amazing “Mercury detoxification protocol”. I am only half way through amalgam removal myself, so I have not personally experienced chelation first hand, but I will be soon and I have been making plans and educating myself a plenty. I have read a lot about chelating, and a lot of people have been badly screwed up by taking Chorella to detox the mercury. I have read lots of horror stories about it, I’m sure if u search this forum u will find similar stories.
He also recommends garlic. Lots of mercury toxic people can’t handle sulphur foods, of which garlic is one. I cannot handle sulphur foods incl garlic.
He also recommends Cilantro which “will help mobilize mercury out of the tissue” – again as per Chorella, many people have been seriously screwed up by taking this.
He also recommends monthly DMPS injections, which again as per Chorella and Cilantro has really screwed people up.
Some people can handle these things and do take them, but lots of people cannot. After all I have read, I personally would not take a chance on taking any of the above things, not even once as a “tester” to see if it was ok for me. I have been burnt badly when I was advised to take cysteine as a mercury detox. It really screwed me up and scared the pants off me, so much so that I research and read as much as possible before taking anything new now.
My advice is to buy Andy Cutler’s book “amalgam Illness.” I promise you it will be the best $35 bucks you spend. This will enable you to make informed choices about how to get better. Educating yourself is a million times better than reading one internet page on mercury detox from Dr Joseph Mercola and his amazing “Mercury detoxification protocol.”
why risk your health, when all u need to do i read the book?
Oh yes, that is my lightsaber, it protects me from the Darkside. My 6 year daughter Lily and I have been watching all the films, 1 to 6 in order for the last 1 year or so. I think we have watched them all 5 times now

To illustrate the point, I received this email last night, out of the blue, from someone responding a question I put on another forum.
Quote
I went through what you're going through about 10 months ago. I had my amalgam fillings removed from October to December of 2005. Since I thought I was rid of all my amalgam, I fiddled around with different chelation methods. I tried chlorella (made me really sick) and chelating every other day with DMSA (made me sicker). Nobody had to tell me not to let them do an IV push of chelator on me (really, really scary.) See DMPS backfire for info on that.
Finally I found Andy Cutler's book. I got a hair test done in Novermber of 2006 to confirm my mercury poisoning diagnosis and I'd suggest you do the same because it shows if there are other heavy metals interfering with your health too. It also indicates if your thyroid or adrenals are having problems, etc. The hair test confirmed that I had amalgam illness.
It took me a while, but I located my dental records and found I had 3 crowns with amalgam under them for sure and another one which might have amalgam under it. From January to March of 2007, I had the amalgam removed from those crowns and then began to chelate according to Andy's book.
His protocol is the only one I've found that works. Everything is going exactly as he said it would. I keep a list of my symptoms and how they're disappearing. Right now I'm in my 6th month post-amalgam removal as shown on p. 52 of his book. The diagram on that page shows a slight exaccerbation of symptoms from month 6 to month 9 post-amalgam removal. My symptoms aren't really that much worse, it's just that my forward progress has slowed down a bit. I'm looking forward to getting through my 9th month post-amalgam removal, and the continuation of symptom remission.
Focus on the supplements as well as the chelation since they help you heal the damage done by the mercury. It's like a miracle not to hurt anymore. I had been so accustomed to an aching body and aching joints! It's a welcome adjustment, let me tell you!
I just wanted to let you know that if you find on your hair test that you are truly mercury poisoned, Andy Cutler's advice is the advice to follow. IT REALLY WORKS!!!
Wish someone would have written me a letter like this when I first began. It would have been so helpful.
Hope this helps to clarify your future direction of healing. I know it's tough to know what will really work when you're just starting to figure out what's wrong with you.
Best wishes for health and happiness, A fellow mercury sufferer

I’ve been on forums for a while now, and these stories are regular occurrences.
Andy Cutlers protocol makes the most sense to me.

Hi Sunshine, thanks again for all the info.I am definitely getting Andy Cutler book, will order it today.I ordered the hal Huggins "It's all in your head "2 weeks ago from local shop, not here yet. Yes, I never heard about this mercury "redistribution" untill yesterday, from herballure website,Although it sounds scary,I have been taking N-Acetyl-Cysteine for over a year now, and have been eating sulphur foods daily, incl garlic,onions,eggs.Yikes.Garlic feels good for me at the moment,my immune system has definitely been under attack since last dentist visit with cold&coldsores etc.Last week I started to take the L-Glutathione,smells like sewage but if it helps it's worth it.I take about 4 gr of vitamin C.it's mixed with some herbs, cats claw &elderberry extract to boost immune s. It can be tricky to now what hinders &what helps, and in what order.Definitely have some better days, some worse. I would be reluctant to give any of these up. the way I think about it is that if I keep up all the stuff I'm doing to get better/detox I will get there...it's like if you plant a seed, give it mineral rich soil, light, water, nurture it,it will grow but at it's own pace.If I get impatient &dig up the soil to see if the seed is growing yet,I can ruin the process. Hope you are having a good day, Sunflower

Hi again Sunshine,I didn't see at first the quote of the letter from another forum.I had those hair tests done &yes they revealed heavy metals, copper, mercury, lead, tin, aluminium, copper being the highest.Everything showed to be under stress:adrenals, thyroid,I think once one is out, everything else knocked out of balance. It is reassuring to find this website &find all these people who completely understand what each other is going through.I appreciate your help, thanks a mill.
