Russ I am wondering why you locked the Information Gap topic? I'm sure there is a good reason. I haven't seen that happen on any other thread.
I do want to add a word to your last post there, seeing as how I cannot reply in the thread itself. Talking about information. Yes, sometimes the majorty of people are mistaken about something. All of us here know that. However it doesn't mean that if we find someone who holds the opposite view to the rest of a group and is seen as a maverick, we should automatically believe the maverick is right and everyone else is wrong. I think someone needs to have a willingness to do that, but only after careful consideration of all the facts.
The facts tell me that mercury is a poison. And fluoride, and many of the things that are put in our food, our water, and the air we breathe. They also tell me that allopathic medicine generally does more harm than good. However, they do not tell me that homosexuality and evolution are wrong.
If you are a creationist you presumably listen to people like Kent Hovind, Henry Morris and Duane Gish. You will accept their "science." Much of what they present as "science" has been explained by actual scientists many times over to be mistaken or wrong, by ignorance or design is hard to tell sometimes. But what anyone reading websites like Answers in Genesis should be asking themselves is why the faulty science is still there even though the authors have been told several times that it is wrong.
You would presumably accept what they say even though scientists overwhelmingly discredit it. Just because of that fact? If you still insist that they are right then it would understandably have to lead you to the conclusion that there is a major global conspiracy involving scientists, their work and their evidence over centuries. I would say that if you start studying the facts, such as how evolution actually works, you will find that this is not the case.
All mainstream US organisations reject the ideology of the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality too. They do not accept that homosexuality is an illness or a disease. They have access to the same information and studies that NARTH do. Why would they not come to the same conclusions? It's convenient when you can claim that something you disagree with must be a conspiracy to hide the truth -- the truth being what you believe, and not necessarily where the objective evidence points.
If you want to discuss this kind of thing in a wider arena, I highly recommend a forum called Creation vs. Evoluton.
http://www.evcforum.net/cgi-bin/dBoard.cgi Many of the topics that have been discussed here, are also being discussed there. There are creationists and evolutionists who are members of the forum and also who are administrators. I seem to recall a recent topic there about homosexuality. There are topics about Bible studies, aspects of creationism, conspiracy theories, and all sorts. I would encourage anyone with an interest in these topics to have a visit and a browse if nothing more. It is a busy and vibrant place with some very knowledgeable people.
