I started round 2 chelation yesterday and just had facial paralysis 30 minutes ago, all of a sudden I got chills all over my body and my face froze, my lips tightened to a fish-mouth like shape and I couldn't open them , my whole face and skull went numb, it got better as the chills passed now I have numbness in my legs and arms and head pressure.
I don't know if to attribute it to chelation or just my ongoing worsening neurological state , yesterday the back part of my left hemisphere shutdown (I processed some information there, spec since the shytdown of my frontal lobes a couple of months ago), don't know if it's connected. It's all collapsing guys, I'm thinking I'm screwed , I'm starting to say goodbye to life, chelation only seems a mere formality.
anyway, should I stop the round?

Jinx, I would stop the round. You have tried quite a few different detoxes and all seemto cause problems, yet if you do nothing, you have the same....so it's really hard to know what's going on. I would have hoped Cutler's method would have been the one that could have allowed for some tolerance as it has for so many others. Oral DMPS is apparently a better option than the DMSA, but mor expensive and only available by prescription as car as I know.
You can take it every 6-8 hours, rather than every 4 (like DMSA) and it is much better tolerated and stable.
What dose of DMSA did you try on these recent rounds? Didn't you go right up to 25 mg before you even got used to 12/5 mg? I maybe wrong, but I seem to remember you went straight from 12 mg to 25. If you do not do enough rounds on the very low dose, and instead go up too fast you can get hit by symptoms unexpectedly.
It's happened to me. I would definitely stop the dosing and give it a break and if you wish to try it again, I would go half that amount or even lower. Some people are SO toxic, they can only handle 6 mg of DMSA to start.

the thing is bex, I don't know if that is really due to this round , I'm more thinking it would have happened anyway as day by day I'm getting worse anyway. I will take one more 25mg dose to make it full 24h , but after that I think I will stop the round.
bex - did u have this facial paralysis thing as well?

Jinx, I hope you are drinking plenty of water while you are doing chelation.

Perhaps you just just stick with mild nutritional chelation for awhile Jinx, apparently our body chelates on it's own for the first few month...slow is better, most of us have found that out the hard way.
best luck, Sandi xoxo

Here are some softer supplements you could try...
5) Pull Mercury Out of Your Soft Tissues with Supplements Below is a list of supplements that pull mercury out of the soft tissues. These are available at your local health food store, and have minimal side effects.
a) NAC, Milk Thistle, Cilantro, C, E and B NAC, Milk Thistle, Cilantro extract are natural chelators and the C, E and B vitamins as supporters of this chelating glutathione system. A typical vitamin C regime is to take 1000mg of the time release version (releases over 12hrs) twice a day.
CAUTION #1: NAC doses should be kept low if one wants to reduce the risk of side-effects. If one has Cystinyria or Cystinosis (a rare inherited disease) they should not take cystine. Also, one should not take NAC if one has high glutathione.
CAUTION #2: Lipoic acid is is only recommended for inorganic mercury (amalgams) and should not be taken if one has methyl-mercury (salt water fish) problems. Typical Lipoic acid doses are 25 mg per day at first and then, 50 mg per day if one tolerates it well.
b) Livaplex (available from Standard Process Inc, Palmyra, WI) This helps the liver move mercury out of the body (especially inorganic mercury from fish). It is recommend that you take 1 to 2 capsules a day at meals for at least several months.
c) Antronex (available from Standard Process Inc, Palmyra, WI) This helps the liver move mercury out of the body (especially inorganic mercury from fish). It is recommend that you take 1 tablet a day for at least several months.
d) Chlorella This binds to mercury and helps remove it from the soft tissues, especially the colon. Some people take 3 tablets a day for several months; however, if one has high levels of cysteine, the Chlorella can hurt (due it's sulfites); therefore, one might consider favoring other approaches, unless they know the cysteine is ok.
e) Garlic This binds to mercury and helps remove it from the soft tissues, especially the colon. Some people take 3 tablets a day at meals for several months; however, if one has high levels of cysteine, the Garlic can hurt (due it's sulfites); therefore, one might consider favoring other approaches, unless they know the cysteine is ok. The liquid form of Garlic has proven to be affective at removing methyl-mercury from the liver with normal cysteine, and it is safer due to containing less sulfites.

Sandi,
Thanks for taking the time to list all these alternatives. Could you please tell me what NAC is?
Thanks, Patty

No problem Patty, it was just a cut and paste job, NAC is n'acetylcysteine, it worked very well for me, before I even knew I had hmt....whereas liquid garlic moved out way too much too fast. Maybe it was just timing.
Best luck, Sandi xoxo

Hi Jinx, not sure about the facial paralysis as such, but I have had my facial cheeks pulled inwards (draw). Kind of like they were pulled in by a draw string. A feeling of my mouth being constricted and no more healthy fullness in the cheeks. A strange look, and also eyes looking rather sunken and quite large. Hard to explain, but haunted looking I think is the best way (haggard).
You will be extremely ill with toxicity if you have been heavily exposed to mercury vapor during removal. I would see how you go after stopping this round for a few days or more and whether you wish to start another round, but definitely if you do, go RIGHT down to half the dose instead this time.
It is seriously better to go slow and steady, because you can always increase later as you are able to. No point in starting off on a dose that you cannot tolerate, only to make yourself sicker and then having to wait to recover again. Ive had tremors in the lips and face and all sorts of odd quirks going on because it gets into the nervous system and plays havoc. This stuff can do anything to you.

yes i have had facial tremors or something like it,i was shocked to see my lips stay in one position, a sort of smile on one side but it went away, very weird that was. my cheeks have sunken, in a bit but i thought it was because had missing teeth. My eyes used to be bulged out and starey but thyroid drugs helped with that.

Jinx:
Are you OK? Have not seen you post lately. With all the mistakes I have probably made, I have no right to post. But slow is better...low dosages, stop if you feel you should do so. Take it up when you feel better.

I was just thinking about him as well and wondering how you are Jinx? TW is right, stop whenever you feel like it and go slow and small. Some people are incredibly toxic, like I was and I could NEVER do it at the doses others could and had to constantly stop and try again later. That's how it was for me.
I had a doctor that was so annoyed by this because I could not continue long enough on any detox due to the symptoms that I was pretty much told that I had a mental block towards healing.
But I could not do a thing about it. I just had to believe in myself and go with how my body was, not what someone was pushing me to do.

thanx for thinking of me guys. I haven't been posting because of progressive dementia. To be fair, I lost all hope. I am currently on 12.5 mg dmsa round 3 or 2, depending on how to look at it. hope u guys are doing better than I do.
on a side note - anyone know why a few weeks ago I got all of a sudden 5 stars under my nickname? What do u get those for anyway, I was surprised cause my input into forum isn't really great, Bex's for comparison is, and you only got three stars, bex, kind of unfair. not that they really matter, just wondering what their signifance is.

Hi Jinx, am very sorry and so disappointed to hear this. Kept thinking maybe the DMSA might lift something for you at the very least. Wish I knew of what would help becaue there is so much out there, that it's hard to know what to try and what will be safe. I know that dental holocaust has used NDF....have you tried that?
People can really go either way. You get those that thrive on andy's detox, those that do pretty well and those that simply dont find it suits them. The same with NDF. My dentist only ever uses NDF for detoxing his sick patients. He knows about the andy protocol but prefers using NDF.
So really I'd be for trying both personally, but just making sure I was starting very slow and very small and supporting my body as much as possible with diet and supplements. It is always preferable you have a doctor/health advisor working with you but as you know for so many of us, this just isn't feasible. Both financially and actually coming across someone who even BELIEVES in this toxicity, let alone treats it.
The stars? I think they could mean different things. You are obviously valued on here, stars or no stars. Doesn't have to be a rigid reason why someone does it. You are a person who has and is trying to survive hellish torment. I admire anybody who can do that, and your raw honesty? You probably have no idea who you have helped without even realising it. They'll be other Jinxes on here reading your posts and feeling less isolated. Think of that a little more!
I'm just glad you are still with us and hope somehow you will keep going.
