Are you sure your cortisol is high Dawn? I thought you said you had adrenal fatigue? Sorry, sometimes it's hard to keep track of things, I'm probably wrong.

Ashwagandha is great for lowering cortisol. I'm afraid I don't know about ginseng. I also take ginkgo biloba for cortisol, and if I'm really having problems Relora is good too. I'm hoping one day my system will heal itself and I won't have to dose up with so many things, but I am very thankful they are there.

Linda.

Garum Amoricum or stabilium or adopton is such a great product too. Ashwagandha is great.

Hi Linda, low and high are similar, i seem to be getting to the stage where im very hyper at night with thumping rapid heart beat, the only thing that gets me to sleep is more H.C and sea salt but i dont want to take too much.
Im also getting very agrevated, i need to calm down,i had a lot of stress last week, i still havnt recovered.
Im taking also, Vit B5 3 times a day 1650mg daily, Vit B6 200mg.
I heard good things about Ashwaghanda and Siberian Ginseng, so i thought i would give it a go. i really want my adrenals to heal, ive been on H.C for 8mths total.

The hyper feelings and thumping heartbeat are oh-so-familiar. Possibly they are due to cortisol. I don't think you have anything to lose by trying ashwagandha. You know what else helps me a lot? Bach cherry plum flower essence. I keep a bottle next to my bed and when I have that heart thumping at night, I put 4 drops under my tongue. When the issue really is cortisol, it calms things very quickly. I've got quite an arsenal LOL. BTW the ashwagandha I take is a powder in a capsule rather than a tincture, so I can't comment on that, but I'd be interested to hear how you get on with it. I certainly wouldn't mind finding a cheaper way of taking it, what I have is Solgar (never cheap here), about £14 for 45 caps.

Hi linda, i got the tincture cos they are better absorbed, but normally i use Solgar for most supplements.
I know its cortisol cos if i take more H.c it calms me down, as does the sea salt. i dont want to be doing too much h.c though!

Linda,i may try the Bach remedy that works for you, ihave heard they are good. it would be handy to carry around with me aswell.
Im sure doctors think these are panick attacks, but to me they are not the same feeling as the anxiety i get, like someone is chasing me and i feel so frightened for nothing, i dont get the thumping heart with that.
i tried deep breathing with the thumping heart and it works a little bit, maybe that was what richard was on about, but they are 2 different things.

Hello

How do you know that your adrenals are burnt out...??

This is what I thought, but after a Quantum BioFeedback test I was wrong, they were actually in good condition - it was all gall bladder related, little liver issues......

hi dawn : both siberian ginseng and ashwaghanda are adaptagenic herds, which means that they work to help to balance your body to a normal level ,ginseng should be used for two weeks and off for two weeks to remain effective ,you can alternate between ashwaghanda for two weeks and ginseng for two weeks for long term effectiveness ,how many mg of hydocortisone are you on daily?

Dawn,

I have been getting alot of info off the www.stopthethyroidmadness.com website and one of the recommendations in one of the testimonies by Missy is to take Ashwaganda and Siberian Ginsing (Eleuthero).

I started taking these two weeks ago and upped my hydrocortisone and am doing much better. The Ashwaganda and Siberian Ginseng level out your cortisol levels in your system, which help the hypoglycemic symptoms and mitigate the shakiness when the next dose is due. I highly recommend reading Missy's testimony.

Valerie the forum moderator on that website for adrenals is great and answers questions same day. She has helped me immensely. One thing she helped me with was first the HC dosing and finding out that I upped my armour meds too fast. She gave me instructions to take my temps (See Dr. Rind's site: www.drrind.com) and told me how you know when your adrenals are properly supported and you're ready for more armour is when your temps do not fluctuate more than .2 degrees over a 4-7 day time period.

Go to Dr. Rind's website to learn how to understand how temps help you know where you are whether you have adrenal and/or thyroid issues.

Hope this helps,
Gabriella

thanks for your replies!
i was taking 30mg H.C, 4 and half grains Armour. I stressed dosed alittle more H.C last week and recieved what is known as a thyroid dump, my temp went up to nearly 100.
So now i know i have to up my dose of H.C if i want proper adrenal support.
Im very positive these things are going to help me heal, its been a longtime, this is one of my bigest problems, Thanks Dawn. XX

Hey that's awesome :-) I am pretty excited because I finally have a few days here where my temps are almost witin .2 degrees, so I am going to be adding the next 1/4 grain in the next couple of days.

Ashwagandha is a great herb for sexual drive and libido. all my local health food stores store it under sexual health.

I did try it along with damiana and have to say it is a great herb. It does many other things too.
