Hi
Does anybody know? I have had this many times now, one time it lasted for 2-3 weeks. Do we get the mercury vapor from the fillings into the lungs? Any idea how to get it out of there?
Thank

I think it is related to amalgam fillings. Of course the lungs are also affected by other toxins in the air we breathe too.
I always get a spate of coughs when chelating, doesn't last long, maybe 3-4 minutes about 20-30 minutes after a chelator, whether DMSA, IV EDTA, a big dose of cilantro, anything. I don't swallow what gets pushed up (ever, anytime of day anymore, if I can help it), I spit it out.

Finn I had the same problem, plus a very rapid heartbeat. This was just one of the many symptoms of mercury poisoning that I had. I had my amalgams removed 3 years ago and have been detoxing since. The episodes diminished quickly. I would say they might surprise me once or twice a month; but only for a short while. I think the reason they happen is that mercury is a neuro-toxin and it messes up our autonomic nervous system that controls the heart and lungs amongst other organs and glands. The exercise must dislodge the mercury from somewhere-my guess is the joints-and then it attacks the ANS. You might want to try taking some Algin before you exercise and see if that makes a difference. Also take a look at your tongue and see if it has a coating on it; or do you notice a metallic taste? Hope this helps Al

Al, that makes a lot of sense, I think you migth be right.. At first I thought I had some lung disease and they took x-rays and gamma-rays - nothing wrong.
I should get that Algin, too bad it isn't available here in Europe. And I should get rid of the damn fillings asap, have 5 of them.
No metallic taste but the tongue has a coating.

Kelp tablets help me a lot., algin is made from kelp so very similar. There have been times I thought i had lung disease too but the chelating has pretty much eliminated any chest pain and it's pretty obvious by now that it's mercury in my lungs because of the way my lungs react during chelating.
Which i suppose doesn't neccessarily mean the mercury and other things in my haven't caused irreversible damage but I'll be darned if I am going to seek an x-ray and doctor's opinion about it.

Before anyone gets confused, I thought I should point out that Algin and Kelp are quite different. I'm not suggesting that someone couldn't benefit from Kelp, but I do think it's important to be accurate about their vast differences. Yes, Algin is "derived" from Kelp, but it is a single, isolated ingredient. Unlike Kelp, Algin does not contain the numerous other ingredients that Kelp does (such as iodine salts, amino acids, B-complex vitamins, vitamin K, and many trace minerals including copper and zinc). Someone who has excess levels of copper or zinc, or perhaps blood-clotting problems (for which they are taking anticoagulants), should be aware that Kelp contains copper and zinc, and vitamin K (which promotes blood clotting). (Because I don't get iodine from Algin, I take Thyroid Support for my iodine source...and it contains Kelp.) In comparison, Algin is a non-digestible fiber (polysaccharide). It is a single ingredient, so it doesn't contain any other ingredients. I've contacted Nature's Sunshine about the Algin we use and was told that there may be only trace amounts of iodine, if any (apparently as a residual process of extracting Algin from Kelp). Kelp and its other ingredients are digestible, meaning they will be broken down and absorbed into the systemic circulation. Algin is a non-digestible fiber that passes through the body without being absorbed into the systemic circulation. Kelp tablets or capsules provide only a small amount of Algin in comparison to Algin capsules. So, you'd have to take a lot of Kelp to get the same amount of Algin found in Algin-only products. Plus, many companies do not test their seaweed products for heavy metals or other contaminants. Obviously, this might be a problem for someone with mercury toxicity. I hope this helps clarify the differences.
