I work with a naturopathic doctor online. I haven't been able to find one where I live. My own NHS doctor doesn't seem to think it's likely that my amalgams have anything to do with my depression. He's quite conventional.
The naturopath online told me that I need to work with a professional here who will help me get the mercury out of my body quickly and safely, and who will measure this. She said that if I do my own protocol it's possible I may harm myself. I thought, after spending a lot of time here reading and talking, that I had a reasonable regime lined up for next week. Now I'm frightened again. I trust this doctor, she's never steered me wrong.
Has anyone in the UK done their chelation with the help of a doctor? If so, can I ask how you arranged this? I haven't had any tests done for mercury toxicity, and I know that often they can be inconclusive, and also that one person can be more sensitive to the same amount of mercury than another. My symptoms are mild so I don't know if a test is likely to help much.
I avoid the doctor nowadays and work on nutrition for myself and my daughter, which is the best preventative medicine. Doctors don't have a clue about a lot of things. But if I could find one to help me with this, maybe that would be wise. I just don't think it's likely.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Linda.

I've thought about this, and read, and read some more.
I'm just going to have to do my best on my own. I feel there's enough info here and elsewhere to help me out.
I also found some info on a natural chelator called HMD, along with the results of a scientific study that was done with it. It sounds effective and the price is good, so I am going to try it.
Wish me luck <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Im sure with all the information on here you will get through it all.
Im planning on still getting mine out by hesham but im not ready yet and cant afford it. Dont want to scare my parents as they think its all a waste of time and money. Will do it when im ready. Im coping fine with some herbs and just ordered the Nature doctor book as recommended on here quite cheap from amazon.

I was advised not to do any chelation except dietary until my amalgams were out. It can make you very ill and can be very dangerous as the mercury can be redistributed and end up in vital organs such as the brain, liver or kidneys. Are you doing a candida diet by eliminating all dairy, gluten and sugar?
Incorporating lots of sulfur containing foods can help eliminate much of the surface mercury, eggs, raw onions and garlic, cilantro and slow cooked legumes can help a great deal, but doing chelation on your own is very tricky business.
Check out whole approach.com, they have a great diet and recipes and info on finding a good practitioner too.
And I would definitely order some algin to help stop the redistribution of mercury....it helps absorb the metals as they pass thru the gut.
Best luck VJ!!! Nice pictures guys, good to see you. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Thanks guys <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I will check out the link Sandi.
I started getting my amalgams out, by the (clueless) family dentist, before I came here. The last one came out today. If I was obviously sick from mercury I would never have taken this chance. I don't know when I would be able to afford to have it done properly, and I've been depressed for 3 years; it would be nice to see whether or not the amalgams are the cause. I may end up paying dearly for this in other ways. I hope not.
For the past year I have been taking a variety of vitamin and mineral supplements, and I have been eating the Paleolithic diet. So no grains/legumes/potatoes, no sugar, no processed foods, and no dairy, apart from some fermented like cheese. Also I try to juice veg twice a day, but at the moment it's more like when I have the energy. But I suppose this stands me in pretty good stead. I have also started supplementing selenium and vitamin E these past few days.
At the moment my planned detox regimen is as follows:
Algin (arrived today, just before my amalgam came out, so I was able to have a dose beforehand) Detoxica (glutathione precursors) Chlorella garlic 3x a day HMD
I'm going to take my time with these, introduce them slowly, and see what effect each has.
Since last week when I had a couple of other amalgams out, I've been fatigued and sleepy, I've had an upset stomach and loss of appetite, more than usual brain fog, more heart palpitations than usual, and my sleep has been disrupted. I read somewhere that mercury can inhibit melatonin production, which could explain the disturbed sleep cycles, and why I thought for a long time I had SAD.
Keeping fingers crossed that now the mercury's out, I can start to feel better. I'll probably feel worse first I imagine, until the mercury from the removal procedures is out.
Linda.

It was interesting Linda, that I was taken into an NHS hospital last year because I'd started to have convulsions. There was a young doctor on the ward at the time and Keith explained to him about a positive Mercury test I'd had in a private hospital. He actually offered me IV chelation, which I had to refuse as I still had my amalgams in. But it just goes to show, if they dont recognise it, which we know the majority don't, why did they have chelation there and offer it to me? All very confusing Hugs Tracy
