Hi Everyone-
I'm starting my campaign to increase awareness and to try to get the government to help out. I need your help. There is strength in numbers. And the key to stopping the American Dental Association is up to us the individuals.

Please post the following addresses, phone numbers and online complaint forms in other forums. You can post them in mercury forums and health related forums. Also craigslist and myspace are huge traffic sites. If you can post a warning in groups on myspace it will start to get a little controversy going.

Where to post warnings (huge traffic sites):
craigslist.org
myspace.com - post in the groups and forums

Here are the government agencies to voice your concerns:
File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission

hello headskakes : don't get discouraged ,I remmember a time when I didn't believe that my amalgams were causing all my symtoms ,I feel much diffrently now that I've had them removed and feeling much better , we can only inform poeple of the health issues surrounding amalgams ,what they do with that info is up to them ,but they can never say that they were warned.

Hi Headshakes, yeah this will happen. I went onto yahoo answers and tried to pass on links to people asking dental questions (reputable links to biologic dentistry etc) and I copped it too. I also had emails that were not nice.

The worst were the 'would be" dentist who are on the net and out to discredit those warning against "mainstream" dentistry. They are on a mission you could say and will definitely laugh and make fun or get downright directly nasty.

But I wouldn't get too downhearted because someone somewhere will be taking note and you will have helped someone with the info. Many people dont say much, they just read and take it in.

Im sure you've heard the saying "empty barrels make the most noise" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Has anybody seen this yet? This looks promising!

H.R. 2101: To prohibit after 2008 the introduction into interstate commerce of mercury

Sorry, if this has already been discussed. I did a search and didn't find anything.

This is the fourth version of this bill to be introduced. The other three have all died in Congress. On the positive side, however, the numbers of sponsors and information included with these bills has increased each time it was introduced, showing the effects of the grassroots anti-mercury movement. Kudos to Rep. Diane Watson (D-CA) who continues to introduce this legislation.

I wrote two of my major law school papers on mercury and mercury litigation. If you are interested in the prior versions of the bills, they are H.R. 4163 (107th Congress, 2nd session, April 10, 2002), H.R. 1680 (108th Congress, 1st session, April 8, 2003), and H.R. 4011 (109th Congress, 1st session, October 6, 2005).

Of more interest on the litigation front is the e-mail I received this morning related to the decided case of Moms Against Mercury v. FDA Moms Against Mercury v. FDA. It looks like the FDA is caving. Five times in its response brief to the court case it admitted that it did not know if mercury amalgams were safe. With threats of continued litigation, both against the agency and also putting high-ranking FDA officials on notice that they may be held personally liable, the FDA has now agreed to write an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking for classification of amalgams. However, there is no timeline from them on this action.

If that last part makes no sense, the short explanation is that the FDA was required in 1976 to classify all medical devices based on the relative safety of the device. However, the FDA has failed to perform its duties of classifying amalgams under the 1976 Medical Device Amendments, which require proof of safety and preparation of an environmental impact statement. There is a lot more to the story, but the gist is that they are now agreeing that they will classify amalgams. It will be interesting to see how "safe" or not they will be deemed, especially since the FDA has already banned all mercury from veterinary uses after reviewing its safety.

I know what you mean.

In the mid 90's, my business partner (Laura) and I joined a political party that was exposing the corruption in government because we thought people would want to know. Come to find out, we learned one of the greatest lessons of our life:

"People believe what they want to believe."

One day, after two years of dedicating all of our spare time to this cause, we sat down and said, "Why are we doing this? Nobody wants to know or even cares." We finally decided to go into business for ourselves.

From that experience, I learned that only a very small percentage of people accept the truth via evidence. Most people decide what they believe based on their emotions or personal desires. Amazingly, this is what the Bible had been telling me all along. Now I understood how true it is.

Don't give up though. The work of doing good—even if people don't want it—is a good thing because there are a few that will respond, and these few are very valuable.

Keep up the good work.

Perhaps you would like to help participate in the "Educate The Dentists" project. See the notice at the top of the list of messages on this forum for more information.

It's frustrating, isn't it?

I've had this with trying to disseminate info about psychotropic meds. People will believe their doctor over anything else anyone says 99% of the time.

You know that you are in possession of the truth. Many people are not prepared to be, they want to stick to what they've been told all their lives. However, if you plant the seeds, in time some of them may grow. That's all you can really do. You'll find that a few people will listen. Others may start to doubt, and in time come to the truth in their own ways.

And when you get flack, just be glad that you have got yourself sorted. Have compassion for those who don't. Sometimes they're just too frightened to think that they might be poisoning themselves and so they will resist the idea all the way.

You're doing good work, don't give up <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Linda.

Arthur Schopenhauer, the 19th century philosopher, said:

"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."
