I live in the Midlands UK (Coventry) and was wondering if anybody knows where best to go for toxicity test? Also any recommended dentists near me where I can go and get fillings changed safely?

Is it worth getting tested for Mercury toxicity first or should I just go ahead and get my 8 amalgams changed?

I had my mouthful of amalgams, most of which were under crowns, removed 3 years ago. I have been following a fairly natural detox program since. I use 2 naturopaths to assist.
From what I understand there is no real way to test how toxic you are. In my case I just went ahead because I had such a wide variety of symptoms. I am very glad I spent the money and I do feel much better.
It is important to use a dentist who uses the proper technique( rubber dams and air ventilators) so that you re-absorb as little as possible.
I would suggest getting a hair test done now. I think it will provide the best benchmark to compare with ones you do while detoxing. Plus it might give you and your ND ideas as to which supplements you need after amalgam removal.
It does seem to me that each of us have found a different and wide variety of detox programs.
I do wish I had done a hair test initially. I do one almost annually now.
Hope that helps.

I am totally confused with which dentist to go to in the UK! The brain fogginess doesn't help matters.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> Has anyone any experience or knowledge of Christopher Castledine from Sutton Coldfield (Birmingham) as that is relatively close to me?

I want things to be done properly that's for sure! I'd also like it to be as cheap as possible due to financial reasons but not at the expense of quality..

Help!

Hey man im from Birmingham and have been looking for a reliable dentist locally. But Im thinking i might travel to London to see Hesham who does it all in one go..

I had a hair test and they said mercury isnt my problem even though I have 15 fillings. But i still think I want to get them out as people say the hair test isnt reliable as mercury might be not be stored in the hair but in other parts. It was done from Joy healy Hair mineral analysis.

http://www.uktherapy.info/readArticle.asp?ID=30

I know how confusing it is. I always have the worry about getting worse after removal( so wanting the best treatment) and its always best to get them removed if your not feeling well and unsure of the cause.

I also suffer financialy and dont want to waste money if its not my main problem. I read on other places alot of people wasting lots of money and not getting better as it wasnt their problem and people saying it a scam...but then I look here and see people getting better after removal makes me believe it is a problem.

Hey Joe. If you have 15 fillings I'd say how can Mercury not be your problem?! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

I have bitten the bullet and have made a consultation appointment with Dr.Hesham El-Essawy on Monday 30th July, immediately after an appointment with Stephen Macallum on Harley Street for a comprehensive Vega test.

Here's some irony, my girlfriend is an NHS Dental Nurse so I have had a tough time convincing her that Mercury could be my problem as she has been brainwashed by the Denstists that she works with!

thats worrying, your girlfriend is a dental nurse. I cant go near the places myself, mercury is in the air and it makes me worse.
a dental nurse (nhs) told me about the dangers of mercury a few yrs ago.
the problem is,mercury would be in her hair and on her clothes when she got home from work which could poison you more, it sounds negative but its a reality.

I agree with this. Mercury vapor is so lethal, that they did a test on a dentist's own house and found it full of mercury vapor. Simply because each day he was taking it in with him on his clothes, skin, hair, shoes.

Very bad! This is not really an issue that most take that seriously unfortunately. But it exists. In fact, there have been some dentists who got so ill from mercury vapor in their job, they had to leave their job. Not only this, they could not even enter a dental office again without getting severely sick.

So even some of them have had this problem. Also mercury can go through walls, it travels everywhere and an office building can be contaminated simply by one dental office in the same building.

I visited my dentist for consultation only and he had a new office and had only been there for a few months. The office had not been previously used as a dentla office, plus he had special equipment to extract vapor from the air. Yet, i was so poisoned after the visit, I could not drive home properly and had to have my father take over. I got home, deeply depressed, then later had uncontrollable giggling fits (which i get with mercury), swining with depression, anxiety and the rest. I had to chelate it back out with DMSA. Stayed sick for months.

That is one visit. Not everybody has this, some are not that sensitive to it or as toxic, but some are and it's a nightmare. Some people are terrified to even go in for a routine check up all because of becoming repoisoned. One guy I know took AGES to detox his mercury, painstaking chelation. HE goes in to a biologic dentist to have a clean done, and ends up having to start again in his chelation. It put him back months.

I am glad you are trying to convince your dental nurse girlfriend of this, it is very dangerous and she is doing no good to herself in this line of work. It can cause horrible effects, if not quickly, most certainly over time. She maybe a rare person with a high threshold for mercury, but it is still the most toxic metal known to man, so nobody is immune.

I think y'all ought to be happy with your choice, Mark G. Dr. El-Essawy did mine an I never had a bad reaction that might could sometimes happen if it ain't done with the utmost care.
In fact, the guy just did ma lil NICO cavitation Monday an if I didn't look like a hamster I'da forgot about it! I was real scared, though, ma lip was doin a dance all on it's own before he needled me up, turns out it weren't a big deal.
Spent way more time fusticatin on it than healin from it.

that was me the anon poster. dental offices are out for me at the monent, they are full of mercury, i cant risk it, id rather have jaw pain than go there at the moment. when i think back to last year when i went backwards and forewards to my mercury free dentist in london, it sends shivers down my spin and not good ones. every visit would make me worse and worse. i went out with my mother in law and she bought her dental nurse friend along and i just couldnt socialise much with her i was completly paranoid incase she poisoned me again,im so glad we didnt go in her car.you probably think im completely over the top but honestly im so sensitive to mercury.

Dawn, that is exactly how it is for me as well. I am terrified of dental offices! My system seems to take in toxicity like a magnet and then hang onto it and poison me for ages and ages afterwards. Any further toxicity from there is just yet another load.

It is a nightmare! Love the picture by the way Dawn! and you too Joe UK. Great to see you guys.

I've had a bit of correspondence with Hesham. The supplement I chose to use as my main detox agent, called Detoxica, is what he uses as well, and the people who sell it told me I could email him and ask him how his patients get on with it. He's a really nice chap and gave me some good info, even though there's no way I'd dare ask what his fees are because I know I couldn't afford them. But yes, he said he does let you pay by installments.

I Googled to find a biological dentist near Leicester where I live and found one in Loughborough, but my heart sank when I phoned up and asked their prices.

My problem is intractable depression, which could certainly be tied to the 4 amalgams that were put in 2 months before it started. But it may not be, and we're pretty low on funds. As I have a good diet and supplement regime and my physical symptoms aren't too bad, I've elected to just dose myself massively with vitamin C, close my eyes, and pray to the powers-that-be that my family dentist won't kill me. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone but sometimes I feel a bit cynical, you know, and think that good health is only there for those who can afford it. You know, like when I pay £££s for healthy food and supplements, when my taxes go to the NHS so they can buy drugs for everybody.

A see there are a few of Hesham's patients here. Did you use the Detoxica, and if so, how did you get on with it?

Cheers,
Linda.

Linda, if you don't have major physical symptoms you might consider just eating lots of cilantro/garlic klike I have been doing... really helps the head. My pesto recipe is here:

http://herballure.com/ubbthreads/sh...er=238759&Main=238723#Post238759

Just use the cilantro version at the bottom, use a generous amount of cilantro (1/2-3/4 cup per serving and same amount of basil for very green high fiber pasta dish) don't drink too much milk with mercury toxins, a little bit seems ok, some have suggested using brown rice pasta instead of wheat based, also a good idea if you can find it. Use lots of garlic in there, seems to help your body excete the mercury/toxins/ I have even been forgetting to take my chlorella of late because the pesto garlic seems to be doing the job.

But that will surely clear your head and who knows what else, you may experience a downswing for a couple days the first time you do this but that seems to be normal for everyone to get to the clearheadedness a few days later... which btw, holds steady once you get there. I also still have amalgams so if you can get to the clearheaded stage eating generous amounts of cilantro, continue with it a few times a week, at least every other day and that will continue to detox you daily for as long as you need, kind of the stage I am at with it. You can even grow your own basil and cilantro if you have a bit of outdoors space or a planter container though you will want a lot of both herbs. They are a cinch to grow and mature quickly which is nice. in the meantime use the grocery, organic spices/herbs are expensive and miniscule in portions which is why I grow mine.

me above, me again...

also consider growing parsley and eating generous amounts of it. Good blood cleanser, very nutritous like basil.

Thanks for all the advice <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I like all these herbs and eat garlic almost every day, basil once a week or so. I'd love to grow my own basil but it doesn't do well in our climate.

I saw a similar cilantro recipe on Dr. Mercola's site. He's a big fan of chlorella too.

I'm also "in" for other supplements too; I feel that if I'm not having the amalgams removed properly, I can at least do my very best to take care of myself and get ithe mercury out of my body.

I've been feeling rather anxious and more depressed than usual, but I suspect it's partly because I keep thinking back to the latest amalgam removal yesterday and thinking, ohmygod I'm poisoned. I'm going to get myself into a vicious downward spiral if I'm not careful.

Nice to have an excuse to be sweating garlic all day, LOL.

i dont know where i heard this but apparently in the next few yrs, you'l have to sign a consent form if you want amalgam in your mouth, here in the UK.
They are banning mercury in thermometres so i read in a newspaper this week.

Well so take advantage of your garlic eating and start adding cilantro bit by bit till you get yourself up to at least a full 1/2 cup+ serving (minced) per day.

Doesn't sound like you have severe poisoning, maybe just a tad. If it were severe you would have problems walking and you be numb all over, trust me, I've been there.

But chelating will keep it it from getting worse till you can get the amalgams removed, and from my experience cilantro is the best for a happy head.

Basil should do wonderfully in GB or just about anywhere except the Sahara or Antartica for that matter. It loves rain, it doesn't mind dry, loves sun can handle a lot of cloudy... it's a short season, ready to eat in 6-7 weeks. Grows under any conditions really except freezing from my experience, I've grown it for several years in both drought and rainy seasons. Cilantro about the same btw, very short season is the reason why. They'll be short and stocky in dry weather, tall and lanky in cool rainy weather but they will grow either way.

sorry to say that cilantro removes no mercury and garlic (unless bio-dynamic) introduces to the body a huge amount of it.

people who give advise should research it properly first before misleading others..

HI Dr Hesham, I have problems with cilantro and garlic. I tried cilantro but found it mobilised, rather than removed anything. I did try using DMSA to bind that back up, but unfortunately DMSA does not help me unless the toxins happen to be mercury (or lead for others, as it does not chelate other metals). The metals/toxins I have are from a cigarette smoking bout I did. Cilantro obvously stirred those toxins and metals up, but nothing worked to grab them again.

Garlic caused me to go into emergency room with agonising stomach cramps. IT tends to either force toxins into worse areas (for me), or perhaps it added a load to me.

I do not know what to believe. Yes I have heard that garlic can contain mercury becuase of it's strong affinity with it and picking it up in soil from fertisliers? I could be mistaken there, but that's what I heard. Would this be so for onions also? But I have to ask. Wouldn't it still be strong enough to not only hold those toxins but also grab others in the body? I find it tends to wildly mobilise the toxins in me, which is why it shunted them into the gut area (I have something wrong with my gut, toxins go in there easily and I can end up in a lot of pain).

I would be disappointed if that was, becuase I love onions. You also said DMSA contained mercury? Well that one Im a bit confused about becuase I have used DMSA successfully for mercury detox. In fact, I was poisoned by mercury in a dental office and was unable to make progress until I started to use DMSA (andy cutler style).

Could it be the batch?

The reaction to garlic may have been a strong candida die off reaction. Do you get any reaction after you eat plain unsweetened yogurt? Cinnamon? Onion? If you aren't used to eating garlic and have a candida problem then you might get a very strong reaction to it.

Hi yes that is possible, but I have had die off from many things and no reactions quite like that. Possibly it was a combination of die off, plus movement of toxins into more sensitive areas, which seems the likely one to me.

I dont seem to get any reactions after acidophilus yoghurt, cinnamon or onion....so I'm not sure what it is about garlic supplements. I can actualy handle some garlic in food form, but not supplement form....I do not know why that is. I assume there is something about the potent concentration of it in supplement form that maybe the issue.

Gee whiz mr hesham do we have to go through this again? I realize that things like cilantro and garlic may not help you make a single dime, egads I shudder to think about it, but cut it out already. Garlic is so poisonous people are dying every day from it aren't they?

I comprehend your need to make 500 dollars an hour though I do not understand it from a human perspective in regard to someone who claims to want to help others.

Here is some research to help you get started in the right direction. If you have any arguments with this research I suggest you contact the numerous doctors and scientists who support it worldwide.

As for myself and many others who do use cilantro and garlic quite successfully, we already know the truth.

Bex, garlic supplements do not contain the same active substances as fresh garlic, namely, allicin and S-allyl cysteine, and that may be the difference. The components in fresh garlic naturally help boost your body's glutathione levels. I think shelf life for garlic after it's been cut or crushed is only a week or so... best to mince it up just prior to eating.

Here's a pretty link for you so mr hesham doesn't have a fit about the fact that these grocery items work better than the products he $$$ssselllls.

http://www.glutathione-report.com/blog/index.php/2005/03/12/garlic-cysteine-and-your-health/

and I know that you know how to do the rest of your own research yourself, albeit having been hopelessly stranded in your chair on your island by the dental profession yourself.

thanks for the links sosick. I'm not sure, the garlic supplements I got were extremely potent in allicin, in fact that was half the reason why they were so effective for others and possibly so lethal to me (for reasons I am unsure about as yet).

I wonder though whether the supplements may cut something out that may prevent that from happneing to me? whereas the food maybe safer. Certainly the supplements I got were high quality and used to be fine for me and work. Not only did they help candida, but were so potent with mercury that I had to often stop because of it being moved.

Nowadays, things are different and i react to things now with often horrific responses and long term suffering. I cannot really blame garlic, but i can certainly say that the supplemetn reacts with something inside of myself, or combines with something and then causes a reaction.

It is most odd. One theory is (not sure what to think here), someone suggested that in people with cavitations, that they need to be extremely careful with cysteine and methionine in potent form. REason being, they combine with the gram negative bacteria in cavitations and mercury to form methyl mercaptan or something (there was antoher one). This is apparently extremely toxic.

If that is true/ That would make sense as to why I had such bizzare effects. Certainly I have to watch myself with garlic supplements, not sure about the food. Seems "ok", but not tried it raw as yet.

I do know it is great for candida. I know people who eat raw garlic everyday to help heal from candida. So, I think for me it is more me that is the problem (whatever I have wrong) rather than garlic etc.

Maybe eat stuff like dandelion and parsley, raw onion is suppose to be good too but I would use all together in salad or whatever, to help keep your liver clean as you go along with it all. Russ's algin probably good, I take kelp supplements for iodine also.

Those things are just sort of part of my daily routine, have been for years.. my little herb garden but you know that.

I have heard people remark so often... about claims about the benefits of natural foods/herbs and healing properties... that prior to actually using these daily, simple herbs... dandelion, parsley a biggie, rosemary, oregano, thyme, basil, cilantro, garlic that they had heard so much and wondered if it were true... and then after doing it themselves, just incorporating items like that into the daily diet, fresh not supplements, that they are amazed in the difference in their health. I am in full agreement. My health in summer when my garden is available to me is always far superior to my health at the end of winter when I have succumbed to an almost daily diet of grocery store food. I need to be more active in my efforts to bottle and dry my garden goodies but still nothing compares to fresh picked.

Are you able to get out and play outside a little bit everyday Bex? Fresh air and exercise also work wonders. And lots of clean water. How is the health of your other family members? Maybe there is a water problem or something weird like that going on also if you aren't healing after all you've done. How many cavitations did you say you had? I have no idea what to do for those what kind of research have you found?

Hi thanks for the suggestions. I dont really get outside because I feel that ill, but I try to go for an evening walk with my father. So I get the fresh air then and about 30 minutes of exercise. But I am usually barely functioning most days, just manage to get through the day and that's it.

I sit or lie down because I am exhausted most of the time. I dont know about the cavitations. ONe doc said I had gangrene in my jaw (left bottom side), yet xray showed nothing. Then bone scan showed upper cavitations, butnot lower.

all contradict eachother, then the dentist wont do a thing because he said i'm too ill. Also, there is no definite idea where exacty they are. Plus the dentist will not do the bottom ones just to be sure, he said there is nothing there.

yet the doctor is certain and keeps detecting it on the same side. He called it dead pulp - wet gangrene. On top of this, they both detected formaldehyde in me, which could be from so many items, plus my own plastic white fillings.

Then add my viral infection to the load which I never recovered from, and you got a mess. I try, I take supplements, vitamin A in halibut oil, B complex, magenisum, calcium, vitamin C (i'm getting vitamin e) selenium etc. and I'll be getting some zinc.

I'm eating healthy also. But I believe that my body is somehow under constant strain, which is why I do not respond as I should to treatment. I dont respond like I once did.

Just the way it is. any kind of detox I go on fails. No matter what people suggest, so I'm kind of tired of it all. I knw something has to be actually done, but easier said. I am very sick and extra exposure to mercury vapor in the dental office scares me due to my extreme and long term reactions following it, plus anaesthetic of any kind.

Too much right now to even think about. I just eat well, take my supplements, go for walks when I can and hope for an improvement at some point so I can take things further.

No there is no water problem, I was never this ill in my life and my situation where i live hasn't altered, nothing has. Nobody else has gone down hill like me and I know full well it's a combination of factors that is doing this (the above I have mentioned).

I eat a lot of good foods. Things that would normally always make a difference now dont.

Bex, the best nutritional advice I've ever had, came from the owner of the forum I joined when I had a bad reaction to coming off my antidepressant. All I can think is that we may be able to guess around, but none of us are experts, and there are so many complicating factors for you. If you have ever been on antidepressants, antipsychotics, benzos, anything like that, you could join this list and do a consultation with the owner, who would give you a protocol for healing. You're welcome to PM me about this if you like. It's pretty sad that I can't offer this service to anyone who hasn't been sucked in by the damaging world of these drugs <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I have read, and my integrative med Doc concurs, that too many anti-oxidants will actually have a negative effect on viral /bacterial conditions. Reason is, more oxygen in your blood (not free radicals though) helps deter infection, kills bacteria/viruses to an extent. With the exception of ascorbic acid, Vit C, which actually helps your body produce a natural form of H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide, extra O, oxygen molecule compared to water) which helps oxidize and kill bacteria of the dangerous anerobic type, cancer cells for instance tend to be anerobic like cavitation bacteria, survive without oxygen thus suffocate good cells etc. My doc uses high doses of IV Vitamin C, up to 100 grams per session, to help people like you. people with lyme disease, all sorts. Very expensive though, I have never done that I think they charge about 400.00 US per session. He also uses hyberbolic oxygen, better at about 120.00 per session, and IV H2O2 to directly clean the blood. No idea of what he charges for that, though he suggested it for me because of the possibility of a cavaitation from the tooth that got really infected after the idiot dentist cut my gums to do his hack work. Kind of out of my budget so I got the 35% food grade and just bathe in it now and then (every few weeks I get to it), on days when i do not do any supplements except maybe some B vitamins.

Anyway, something to ponder and maybe research on the net a bit, about the effects of too many anti-oxidants when infections are present. With the exception of C. But you also need the anti-oxidants like E so it's a delicate balance.

Enough Formaldehyde to detect does not sound good. .

Just some various stuff I found in a quick search. I'd take lots of C every day if I were you. Mold makes me feel real lousy and it's a hard one to figure out too because you can't always find it right off. Where we live, there was a mold problem which I discovered only after getting ill for a few weeks... just an idea.

A quote from the desk a so-sick:

"Gee whiz mr hesham do we have to go through this again? I realize that things like cilantro and garlic may not help you make a single dime, egads I shudder to think about it, but cut it out already. Garlic is so poisonous people are dying every day from it aren't they?

I comprehend your need to make 500 dollars an hour though I do not understand it from a human perspective in regard to someone who claims to want to help others. "

So sick, why do ya have to do this all the dang time? Your cynicysm is breakin your heart. I guess ya find it real amusin to call a Dr a 30 years experience " mr." too . har-har , but the laugh may be on your bad self. mainly cuz me (an a few others ) think y'all are plum loco chelatin with all that metal in your gob, but that is your choice. I just worry about the other poor souls who may mistake you for the voice a authority an comply. BEWARE!
As for DR. El.-Essawy bein into money, you could not be further from the truth but I'm not broadcastin this more'n I already done cuz the guy has enough low budget (an free rider) folks as tis.
(His poor wife an kids... one dang patient kept him there til 7:00 this week an he didn't make a penny, an I happen to know there will be a repeat performance this Friday, too)
An I guess ya completely ignore poor Jinxy's experience with cilantro (an prolly garlic/onions) stirrin up the redistribution?
I strongly suggest people (don't ) take your advice with a word a caution. Do ya wanna make folks worse?
Do ya simply not believe in Richard's good work with the mercury vapor meter? I'm glad y'all are so chuffed about your so-sick protocol , anyone else wanna follow that?
I'm hopin ya learn to trust your country dentist cuz ya need to get that crap out a your mouth, it's affectin your good judgement, just don't want to see it affect others.

Still, I'm takin your advice on the glasses, ta, love. I guess these aviators are lookin a bit dated. Oh, what? They've come back in ? okay, maskin tape an no nail varnish it is.

Ladies, I thank you all a lot for your concern and advice. Boy oh boy, a lot to go through. I find it very hard to take in information, so this is a little overwhelming at the moment, but I'll try and read the links, thanx so sick.

Sounds like the protocol that owner has (on that forum) might help people. Problem is< I have gone already on so many protocols nad so much good stuff, and the issue is this. My body is battling too much at once, no matter what I do, what great supplements I take, or what diet i do, there is only so much and it comes to a standstill. Believe me, i have tried.

I am also scared of almost trying "too hard" to where even the good stuff may become too much (supplement wise). I am trying to support my body, but keep it simple as i can. There is an issue to where my body takes in toxins rapidly, but does not eliminate, seems to be a blocking problem somewhere.

My diet is excellent, so there is no problem there. I have read about diets for years and this is as close as I get to being ideal (aside from the typical sprays they put on our foods and not allowing them to be ripe when they pick them so they have longer shelf life etc). But I do not have the money to fork out for much else.

It's a pain I tell you. But again I'll go through more of what you've said and put up here. Really appreciate your care!!!

Elvis, I have dealt with Dr Hesham on email and I have to admit that he has shown much kindness. In fact, he took his time to try and help me, evaluated my xray and told me what he saw there that he felt should be investigated (ie. a bacterial trap between the fillinng and the tooth, a very leaky filling). And I am wondering whether that maybe what the doctor actually detected on his eav machine (voll machine). He kept mentioning dead pulp. gangrene....so who knows?

At some point I know I have to do something, but not easy given the conflicting circumstances.

Bex,darlin, I wish someone could do the cavitat scan on ya an then just get to work. I fail to understand why some kind soul won't help put you out a this needless misery when there are obvious things that could be done.My cavitation surgery was just not near so bad as I was thinkin, no where near bad even. Just a good clean pain that I didn't even need a post op pain killer for, an I was kinda lookin forward to that.
I know ya can't but I wish y'all could come over here an get started on the clean-up operation.
Would ya consider the Hulda Clarke zappin'program for tooth infections and bad plastics?I got mine today ( a bit late ) but need a Phd to figure out how to use it, luckily ma pardner can do that...
Sounds like ya gotta get your bad plastics out, leastaways.
I got the cerecs, on some teeth, so far so good... I didn't do at all well with the bad plastics I had, but I got some plastics that are ok, biocompatably tested, though
Everbody wishes ya the best, it's been a long hard road for ya, seemin to lead nowhere but there are things can be done an I truly hope the help ya need comes REAL SOON.

P.S. One dentist here wanted to charge me 50 quid for a 15 minute phone call when all I wanted to ask was a short an simple question about did he know anythang about removin zirconium oxide implants.
Turns out he knew a lot about removin cash from wallets long distance. An he's meant to be real carin and holistic , sharkistic more like.

Hi, you're welcome Joe! Dawn, I didn't even KNOW that cigarettes contained formadehyde??? Gees I must be stupid. I know that they contain many chemicals and metals, but no wonder I got so ill. For starters, the doctor said I react very badly to formaldehyde (though I dont normally smoke and didn't have a binge when he saw me, so he must have detected it from something else). but the added exposure from the binge smoke I had? Well that must have really done it.

I have to wonder if the plastics in my mouth are actually leaking (as Dr Hesham suggested on one side), this may explain not only the bacteria, but formaldehyde that two seperate doctors deteced ( mean come on, they dont even work together I never mentioned it either).

So yeah there seems to be many pieces to this jigsaw and I hate it. I actually prefrred just having mercury, rather than this. Mercury was horrible, but my body still excreted things as painful as it was. Now it does stuff all.

thanks a lot Elvis! I actually have hte cavitat scan done! And get this, it showed no problems at all in my lower jaws, only the top. But the EAV testin gshowed gangrene in the bottom.

So this just gets worse! sorry to moan on to you all, just really fed up. Trying to find out what I can do. I think I will get hte plastics out elvis, that is my first step and also mention the possible leaky filling to the dentist as well whilse i'm at it. Good one for getting cerec, seems to be a pretty good bet (at least so far from what I hear). I hope to get it too, if I ever can.

I'd warn people of one main plastic (composite) called filtek supreme. I dont know if its coincidence, but that was also put in the sametime as I got much worse. Though had wisdom tooth out also, so who knows? May not have been that, but it turned out bad on my serum test and I heard from someone else that got it and got sick as well.

anyway, one step at a time (if even that, right now I'm standing still). That is ridiculous Elvis, for that dentist to charge you that much for a freaking answer to a simple question. I have emailed some that do that and won't answer a thing. They say "you must come in for consultation" and I'm thinking "Why would I do that? I'm asking what the names are of the materials you use for replacing amalgam" boy do they HATE questions. Or something simple and they wont tell you. Easy to get cynical.

cheers and thanx again.

I realize mr hesham is a buddy of yours Elvis, and obviously a close one since you know so many intimate details... but conflict of interests aside... mr hesham is obviously not well informed. Jinx experiences you mention are just more (possible)proof of the effectiveness of cilantro. The product hesham apparently recommends 'detoxica' is nothing more than a deriviate of l-cysteine, found naturally in garlic.

I wasn't born yesterday Elvis, sorry for the confusion.

mista hesham... tell me something Elvis, doctors do not call themselves dentists, why do dentists call themselves doctors? They are not trained as doctors so why are they using the title? Rather deceptive I'd say.

Well I hope your eyeglass situation goes well, sounds a bit rough to me. If your doctor dentists had not made you sick because they are not really doctors but had you conned at the time, you might actually have a few quid for new eyeglasses. After all, eye doctors are not expensive.... needless to say damage to your eye or even the loss of one by an eye doctor would result in a hefty lawsuit for them... but dentists are another breed altogether and in a separate category as far as their work is concerned aren't they?

Dentists are not doctors Elvis. I am so sorry to disillusion you.

Nor do oral surgeons call themselves dentists.

Try again?

We could try to equate pet shop owners with veterinarians maybe.

Bex, the cavitat scan is only as good as the person doin it, so it leaves a lotta room for misinterpretation, quite a tricky to use lil piece a equipment. I 'm waitin on a new machine sposed to be more reliable that someone's gonna be testin me on soon as he gets it, but that ain't no help to you, not yet , anaways.

Dr David Harvie Austin is a dentist in london, hes an oral surgeon too, taught the Hal huggins way. He calls himself a Doctor.
I looked into that Detoxica stuff and yes all it is the stuff SS mentions,it would be no good for some of us,especially me.

I got no quibble with the detox info, just like there ain't a detox good for everone, it ain't a one size fits all job.
Personally, I'm glad I didn't mess with the chemical ones but there may be a time and a place for all things dependin on body chemistry organ load, and passage a time post removal .

Elvis, I did not realise that the cavitat scan was only as good as the person using it? Whoa. I actually thought that was the EAV machine! (which is true also).

The cavitat scan is a bone scan, so I thought it just showed what was there and that was that. So that's a concern. It maybe true, it's possible that the problem is a leaky filling from a bacterial trap between the filling and the tooth as Dr hesham suggested might be the issue. If that is so, that would explain what the EAV picked up. I may have cavitations in my upper jaws, many people do have them and they do not always cause problems, depending on whether the bacteria has become systemic or not, but it might not be the dead pulp that the doc picked up.

It's confusing for sure and I know i'm not the only one on here with this kind of stuff going on.

Welp, I had the vega test, which "indicated "a cavitation, so to map it an be sure, I forked out for the cavitat scan.
Me an ma big buddy both thought how easy it would be to get it wrong during the scan process as there really is a nack to it which is prolly why some folks here are so much more strongly recommended for the service.
Wisht I could help more.

Detoxica contains glutamic acid, L-cysteine, and L-glycine, the three precursors to glutathione. The dosage of this blend is 1.5 grams a day, though this can be doubled. I have seen this protocol recommended on some other sites too. Buying it this way appears to be a lot cheaper than buying these supplements separately (at least here in the UK).

It'll help you neutralize and eliminate mercury from your blood, just like garlic, helps your kidneys work better because they will eat toxins as readily as good stuff if not enough good stuff is available, but it won't do much to clear your brain and bones of heavy metals. Toxicolgy/heavy metal specialist physicians would laugh you right out the door if you even suggested such a product would cure a case of mercury poisoning. It may be helpful but far from adequate.

If you aren't experiencing any real problems from mercury or other heavy metals, simple glutathione support will help your body naturally detox in time, assuming your body is naturally detoxing as most everyone's attempts to do on a daily basis. Most people who pay big sums of money to get amalgams removed are doing it for more reasons than just aesthetics however, they generally are the ones who have begun experiencing debilitating symptoms because their bodies are overloaded and not naturally detoxing at a rate sufficient enough to keep them well.

The American College of Surgeons prohibits dentists and even oral surgeons from practicing in hospitals without the supervison of a physician because neither dentists or oral surgeons hold actual medical degrees, they are not physicians, they are not really doctors according to the american college of surgeons.. Which is exactly why they are so inept at diagnosing illnesses caused by their own work.

I'm confused now. I don't know if things like DMPS are even available in the UK, but I read that they can pull beneficial metals out of your body too, and have other side effects. I believe that the best way to go about these things is always naturally.

What's wrong with Detoxica, Algin, and other high quality supplements? Do I need anything else? I'm covering the "big 3" suggested by Russ.

VJ, be REAL careful with the detox when ya still got metal in your mouth.
My advice is to try small amounts a the more natural suggestions and work with what feels right, everbody is bio-chemically different, but I'd imagine most folks say don't touch any DMPS or DMSA before ya deal with the metal in your mouth.
I would call all the dentists ya trust an ask for what -all they can do for ya maybe on a payment plan.
Or get a bank loan.
DON"T use a cheap dentist ya don't trust, there ARE some human beins out there, I know ya can find one.
The whole thing is a different ballgame when the monster has left it's lair.
Some folks say my way or the highway an it ain't that simple.
I'd trust your go natural approach.
P.S. Dawn, I'm zapping now, kinda itchy.

Yo Elvis <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

The last of the metal will be gone next Monday. No I'm not using a biological dentist. Don't know when I'd ever be able to afford one. Am I stupid? Well it's either this, or carry on being depressed (assuming it's the mercury that's causing the depression).

Anyway, I've been wondering what else I can use. I don't mind swallowing a few garlic cloves each day. I'm happy to try cilantro (coriander) too. I just looked up chlorella and the cheapest kind would still cost £20 per month so that's not really feasible.

I just don't know what I'm facing. My guess is that I'm mildly mercury-toxic. I don't know how much help my body will need with clearing it out. Certainly if you go to the Detoxica website, they have a lot of info about the detox process, how to monitor it, etc. They recommend checking your body temperature every week to see if your thyroid hormones are getting back to normal and warming you up properly.

The problem is, I only found you guys while I'm getting my fillings replaced, and just before I was going to try detoxing. So it sort of feels like a mad scramble now to sort out what I want to do and what seems to be best.

I'm open to suggestions <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Linda.

Dentists are pretty much prohibited from recommending things like DMPS or DMSA because they are not doctors.

They can only recommend or give you nutritional supplements, anything else is beyond their scope and they could lose their license for acting as a physician when they are not.

Which means, in essence, don't even bother asking a dentist about how to chelate your mercury properly.

Most chelation doctors do recommend DMPS and DMSA even with metals still in the mouth, if the situation warrants it.

Well I dont understand this. Andy Cutler has written a book on using these products and he is not a doctor. He is a biochemist.

Also, DMSA is available without a prescription... Though DMPS needs a prescription apparently.

I know that my dentist here would not talk about DMSA to me at all. He used his own protocol on patients and would not move from that. I found his protocol intolerable for me, so I had to secretly give Andy's a go (to try and chelate out the re-exposure from mercury). Well it worked! I told the dentist if it would be ok that I do that instead. He did not feel the same way. (even though it was helping me at the time).

So I believe that some biologic dentists do not like the drug way to deal with it and go along the nutrient/herb angle mostly.

My doctor sells DMSA in her office. I found out what Lab she got it from and started ordering itstraight from them instead (FAR cheaper). She found this out and was highly annoyed. She would add 80 cents to every capsule. So if one capsule of DMSA was 1.20, she would make it 2.00. When you are ordering 50 capsules, her 80 cents makes a huge difference.
So I thought I dont need this when I can get it straight from the lab myself.

On top of this, she wanted me on this Goji juice. This is like the juice made from the exotic Goji berries which is supposed to be quite miraculous. Of course, her price was miraculous also. I found out If I wanted to get that, I could get it 20 dollars cheaper than she was selling. THis is very sad when you consider she is dealing with sick and financially hard up people. She charges you as much as she possibly can get away with.

I stay away from her until it's time to fill out my sickness benefit form. She has not been helpful to me, apart from that. Charging me high consultation fee, just for seeing her for 10 minutes to sign a form. Doing nothing but "emotional block testing and making out the problem is somewhere in my past". "freeing my emotiional blocks" and claiming this would get me well. YEs, she really is still practising. Though she believes in toxicity, so she's one of few doctors I can go.

Linda, i have heard that Sun chlorella is the best and you can now purchase it here in the uk. I wouldnt go for a cheap one cos they can contain mercury, sun chlorella is different.
I too came to this forum while getting my fillings replaced, i realised i had chose the wrong dentist, not enough protection,(only a dam) and dental materials dangerous containing fluoride, aluminium, and something that elevates estrogen levels which i have had probs with ever since replacement.
Be careful of what the dentist puts in your mouth, white fillings can also be dangerous.
If i could go back in time ii would have done things diferently and done alot more research.

Right, as long as Andy Cutler is not a dentist he can yell about the virtues of DMSA all he likes. Just like you or I. As a biochemist he is also much more qualified than a dentist to discuss something like DMSA anyway.

Dentists are required to go the nutrition angle, it's not a choice they can actually make without fear of losing their license. They literally cannot recommend DMSA or DMPS. They can write you a prescription for painkillers though. if they want to treat mercury poisoning they have to study medicine to qualify as a physician. Dentists are pretty much on the bottom rung of the healing arts professions, assuming they can even heal as opposed to make someone ill that is. They are a notch or two above chiropractors, that is reality. I think they charge so much money because it's part of their con game. their prices demand respect even if their work or person fails to. I noticed that the costs of dentistry really went sky high when cosmetic dentistry became big. Now every dentist is a cosmetic dentist or a biological dentist trying to garner big bucks on specialty treatments, only a small portion of them actually have training in those specialties though. It's all about money.

My doctor sells DMSA too, but for the same price as I can get it online. His prices are quite reasonable, much better than any dentist I have visited of late. He doesn't charge above and beyond the labs for lab tests, anything.

I tried the bottled Goji, I think it is junk. Though I enjoy the claims so I bought a bush. It's just little and growing, still establishing itself.

Your doctor sounds like she is playing the dr dentist con game. I agree it is unethical what she is doing. I would look around for another. Get a board certified integrative med doctor if you really want to be happy. Where is that link I posted to that organization? It's in the website here somewhere. My doctor is one of the directors.

I know it sounds weird because it should be the other way around, but really good doctors and dentists are usually affordable. It's the cheapskate con artist type that charge the big big bucks and leave you laying in the road, from my experience.

Should I try to get some DMSA? How long a course of this is the norm -- a week, a month, a year? Should I use it in conjunction with my other things, like the Detoxica? I have read that DMSA and DMPS can cause mercury to be dumped in the liver, and they have caused some severe damage to some people. However, I just want to get well, and I want to do what is necessary. I am obviously on a budget, which includes probably £100 a month for the supplements I already take, but if it's something that's really going to benefit, like the Algin, then I'll get it. (Algin is on its way to me now.)

Help!!

Hi VeggieJuicer, when I was mercury toxic (and didn't have what I have now), I used many different things to try and get well. Oddly enough, just because something is natural, does not mean it is safe for a mercury toxic person.

Anything that mobilises mercury wildly can be a risk, particularly in someone that may not be able to eliminate properly or keep up with what's been pulled out.

I found that DMSA taken according to Andrew Cutler's instructions was the safest route for me at that time. You cannot always completely avoid symptoms during detox, but you can lessen them to a more tolerable degree. His tends to do this for many people. His protocol is this. You take DMSA (e.g. 25 mg to start) every 4 hours around the clock. Unfortunately the annoying thing is having to set an alarm and wake at night. But this is the only way to keep blood levels of DMSA even, and avoiding the intermittant dosage that causes the levels of DMSA to spike up and then drop down rapidly, which causes erratic movement of mercury. If DMSA is taken every 4 hours, it remains at much hte same levels and continues an ongoing more even movement of mercury and escorts it out, rather than randomly moving it all over the place.

You do the every 4 hour routine for about 3 days straight (or longer up to a week if you like). Then you take a break for about the same amount of time. Then repeat this same cycle and so on. E.g. 3 days on, 3 days off. Or 3 days on 4 days off. So long as you take it more than 2 days and have a break of the same or longer, it is fine.

It is not wise to take it any longer than a week though. Because it is quite stressful for the body to chelate and due to waking often, it may not be helpful either. Your body needs a rest inbetween. You may need to do this for about 3 months or so. DMSA reduces blood/tissue mercury. It is not as effective as chelating organ/brain mercury as Alpha lipoic acid. So you can bring Alpha lipoic acid onboard later. ALA should not be used too early on if your blood levels of mercury are still too high. You need to wait about 3 months or more after your last amalgam removal before ALA can be used. DMSA can be used immediately.

If you have already been 3 months or longer past last amalgam removal you can "officially" use ALA. But most try DMSA first just in case they find it is still chelating some mercury. When you feel ready to try ALA, you can use it with the DMSA, or you can use it on its own and leave DMSA out of it. Many find DMSA is helpful to use with ALA though. Both can be used at the same dose at the sametime. Though it is safer to use ALA every 3 hours rather than every 4, because after 3 hours, the levels of ALA in the blood start to drop. You can extend to every 4 hours during the night if it helps you get some more sleep, but best to stick to 3 hours if you can, especially during the day.

The dosage of both can be started low and increased later as side effects allow. Once a person starts ALA, they can keep using it for months until they have chelated their organ and brain mercury. This may take a year or longer. You may start to feel much better much earlier, but it does not mean all your mercury is gone, just means the chelation has gotten rid of quite a bit, but it possibly helping keeping you well. You need to continue chelating even if you feel ok. It is safer that way to make sure you have gotten rid of all the mercury.

DMSA is available online. Here is one place:
Worldwide Health Centre - (UK Depot St Albans, Hertfordshire) and (US Depot Carson City, NV 89706).
Sells DMSA 100mg and 25 mg caps
http://www.worldwidehealthcenter.net/category.php?find=DMSA

And here:
Supersmart website - UK
Sells DMSA 100 mg caps.
http://www.supersmart.com/article.pl?id=0248

Though the one just above only sells them in 100 mg capsules. You may handle that dose fine, but many wish to start lower. Some do not tolerate higher doses, so they may start as lower as 25 mg or even 6 in some cases!! Andy recommends 50 mg - 100 mg and does not think it's a high dose, but depends how poisoned you are and how sensitive you are.

Thanks for the reply Bex. It echoes something I read on a website just this morning, including the every-3-hours stuff.

I am very wary of drugs and the thought of DMSA, especially without a doctor's supervision, frightens me. But more than that, I couldn't get it if I wanted to. I don't have £15 or £20 a day. Yes I believe you can't put a price on your health, but things have to be in the realm of the possible.

I wonder if this is available on the UK NHS? My doctor didn't even think mercury was used in fillings anymore, and he gives me odd looks when I talk about the different things I'd done to try to alleviate the depression.

I'm frightened. My IBS is back today, never has been a problem since I changed my diet, though I only got bouts of it to begin with after my fillings were put in. I am feeling faint and fatigued, and getting a lot of anxiety at night. I am counting the days until the Algin comes.

Not everyone takes DMPS or DMSA, is it possible to do OK without them?

I've had another careful look at those links Bex. I could maybe manage the 25mg one, for 3 months.

Like I said though, I'm frightened. I don't know if the Detoxica, garlic, and some chlorella I bought this morning at a health food shop will do for me. Or if I added DMSA on top of this, if I'd be in danger of really hurting myself. There's so much guesswork here.

Hi veggie Jucier, I am on a benefit, I can hardly afford anything. But I would put a bit of money aside each week till I had enough to go get a pile of DMSA.

Then I would only chelate about 3-4 days at a time, when I was able to. They are highly expensive I know. Digusting really.

Actually DMSA taken every 4 hours maybe helpful to you, because any mobilised mercury will probably be grabbed by the frequent dosing of DMSA. SO even if you take garlic, etc, you will be binding up the mobilised mercury with the continual intake of DMSA. Hopefully.

Personally for me, I'd be wary of chlorella, garlic, etc, because they are high in sulfur and mobilise mercury pretty wildly. Some do fine on them though. It depends how you handle high sulfur supplements and foods. They all stir mercury up. You maybe fine though! If you dont handle it? you can always lessen the intake of those types of foods.

DMSA is actually one of the safer products i have tried. Nothing is as safe as water (heck even water aint as safe as water nowadays), but DMSA is safe enough to where they use it on children to chelate them from lead or mercury toxicity. That should give you some idea.

The real issue is, the mercury itself. That is the problem. How will it be moved? and will it simply be stirred up into more sensitive areas? Or will it be removed more safely? That's why I go for Andy's method most of the time. I have tried others, and I just cannot compare it with his.

There are two forums alone devotated to using his protocol. There are people on here using it with some success, some are healing well. So be encouraged! If you do not like it? You can always stop immediately. But it is not one of the stronger drugs out there. It simply has a strong affinity for lead and mercury and is a good starter after amalgam removal. Some people who have had adverse reactions to moblising the mercury too much, have found using the DMSA according to those instructions can sometimes cure the reaction.

but again everybody is different, so there is no way to predict how you wil be with it. I think it is worth a try personally and 25 mg is a very low dose. Much milder.

Thanks, I will have a think about this. I might try what I've got for now and see what happens. If I don't get on with it or don't feel I'm improving, I might try adding the DMSA. Thanks for all your info here, and I know it will be here for me to refer back to.

Linda.

Bex, are you able to use Algin?

I've been reading here about the issue of sulphur-containing foods such as garlic. There seem to be many different opinions. Some people chelate with them and feel it helps; others like you say they don't work, or have got sick from them. I read somewhere that Russ said sulphur-containing foods do mobilise mercury, but that's the only way he knows of to get rid of it. He says that is why it is important to use Algin.

Guess I'll try some garlic and see, once the metal is out. Wow, there's just so much guessing involved with this.

Hi there, I dont know about algin, I have not tried it. I do not see how it will help me as I dont seem to have a metal toxic problem as such anymore.

Algin is more for metals that are in circulation. It can help absorb some apparently and may help symptoms. Not sure if this will help me, as I have more of a toxic issue I think with other sources like cavitations, gum infection and possiby incompatible dental materials or even a leaky composite.

Yeah it's hard to say what will work for each person. I am ok with some sulfur, but I dont go overboard. I cannot handle garlic in supplement form, it is dangerous to me. But anytime you have free floating metals, you may find sulfur foods/supplements aggravate your symptoms and sometimes dramatically. It may indeed move them, but often bounces them around, which is why I think it's easier and safer to follow a well thought out chelation protocol like Cutler's, that cuts down on this and lowers the risk of mercury doing damage as it's being bounced around.

Yes, Algin is really used as protection against redistribution of mercury. This is because 90% of mercury excretes via the liver which dumps it into the colon, which is all too happy to reabsorb it. Algin travels in the colon (it is a non-digestible polysaccharide) and absorbs mercury very efficiently preventing reabsorption and encouraging elimination, which is—of course—very important because if you're detoxing or simply are mercury toxic, any reabsorbed mercury is redistributed which means more symptoms and more damage.

Thank you Russ, at least I don't seem to be getting my information wrong.

I'll start on the Algin when it arrives, and then get that mercury mobilised. The more I read about chelation, the more I want to avoid the chemical chelators if possible.

Hi Mark,

You must speak to your girlfriend and try to get her to change her job. I have a friend who is 55 years old and she had been a dental nurse then a hygienist in NHS dental practices from the age of 16 until about 10 years ago when she had to give up her job due to back problems.

For years doctors couldn't find out what was causing her problems. The discs in her spine had fused together and what with that and other probs things got really bad and she was no longer able to carry on working. She was in pain 24/7.

After I got ill will mercury poisoning she began to wonder whether all those years working with mercury in the surgery may have caused her problems. I had huge problems with my spine when I first got ill and couldn't walk for 18 months without the help of a stick and was in terrible pain all the time. So it got her thinking.

She didn't have many amalgams as she knew that amalgam fillings weren't safe so she always had white or gold fillings, and the few amalgam fillings she had when she was a child she had replaced over the years, but she was still worried.

She went and had a test for heavy metal poisoning and found that her body did in fact have a huge amount of mercury in it..from working with amalgam every day for all those years. Being a dental nurse was something which she had wanted to do for a long time before leaving school and she got her wish. She loved the work. But now, she can't stop blaming herself for what has happened to herself. She knew for a long time that mercury was dangerous..but still carried on in the job, because she loved it. I'm sure your girlfriend knows how dangerous amalgams are too and she will be able to tell you that amalgams in the dental surgery are dealt with as 'toxic waste'. Spillages have to be dealt with 'safely' under special procedures.

If it's a job your girlfriend loves and has wanted to do for a long time, it will be hard to persuade her to change her career but her health must come first. My friend was once very active and loved dancing, she now can hardly walk indoors and when she goes out she has to use a wheelchair and is in constant pain.
