Is there a definite answer as to whether we should take B12 or not being mercury posioned?
I've read in sweden they use b12 in mercury toxic patients and they have remarkable results. I'd need an answer on b12 as my brain is shutting down and I think I already have mental ilness and wonder if it would help with brain function.
can smeone say if it helps their brain?
and there's also the question what b12 to take - the cyanocobalamine one or the methyl-cobamine (that can mehylate mercury)??
please answer!!

Amalgam Illness says that a lack of adequate B-12 is a big cause of deranged brain metabolism. It is involved in all kinds of methylation reactions. While there are many mercury toxic people who can't take B12, I am one of them that it helps.I do take the methylated form. It has been used by some on the autism forums with success. Having said that, it is an individual thing. Some people are not helped by B-12 and some respond poorly to it. That's just what I have come up with on doing research on the vitamin, because I have been found to have a B12 deficiency in the past.
Hope this helps a bit.

excellent question jinx. I was told I had a b12 deficiency and was given a prescription for b12 injections and am suppose to give myself shots but I haven't done it yet because all of the people saying b12 methylates mercury so I haven't done it. I'm afraid it would make me worse. It would be great if someone could explain this in laymen terms so I can understand better. Cutler's book is very confusing to me. Thanks Veg

I think the methylation would only occur with the methylB12 with mercury grabbing the methyl group and turning itself organic.
About 2 months ago I bought a skin gel that containec and organic form of niacin - 1-methylnicotinamide and just after putting it on my skin I got instant mercury reaction, getting hot plus brain redistribution.
I also remember not feeling well when taking MB12 1000ug a year ago but the thing doesn't have to be the same with plain B12.
James - does that vitamin b complex also include b12 ; what form and how much?

I took 50 mg of each b vitamin but felt on edge and very jumpy and panicy.... I thought they were meant to be good for your nerves so I kept takin gthm for a month but was terrible the whole month. when I stopped I was much better...I couldnt believe I could get even worse than what I was LOL.
I cant tolerate any B vitamins....more spaced out. even low doses...not sure why..I started to think maybe im mental or imagining it and tryed it again on low doses but still felt ill

Jinx, To answer your question. Go to www.recoveryvideos.comScroll down the page and take a look at the ADD(H)D QEEG Brain Changes with MB12 video. It says its for MAC users, but it's for windows users also. These videos were an eye opener for me. It can help with eye tracking issues, depression, stress, OCD, a lot of different issues. Again, it is not for everyone. If somebody has had a bad experience with it, they wouldn't want to take it, that's sensible. And if someone does take it, it will take time for it to work. For me, it took about 3 weeks to see the improvement I have now. And I believe that I'll continue to see more improvements. Vegimom, Yes, Cutler's book can be confusing. However, if you look in the index on Vitamin B12 in the back of the book, his information about this vitamin is pretty easy to follow. I think you'll agree. I'm so torn to report how it helps me, in that some people do not fare well with this vitamin. But, I take the liquid methylated form and feel it works great.

Jinx, both the methyl and cynano form of B12 can potentially methylate mercury. The cyano must be turned into the methyl form during a process in the body to be able to do its job. Taking the methyl form means that you are simply skipping the process in your body so you are more guaranteed that it will work.
Personally I get panicky and nervous of all B-vits no matter the dose and especially the B12. If you are prepared to take the heat you could test them out to see if you react good or bad.

I never knew there were different B12's, im taking cynano but il try the methyl one in future, i have to take it everyday cos im low in it. Unfortunatly people who have thyroid problems have low B12 and need it to function properly.
