I was doing some snooping around and came across this article on Timothy Ray's website. Ray is the inventor of the chelator NDF. Some of the articles on his website are really interesting, I think. I'm not chelating yet because I have too many other health issues to get sorted out. Nevertheless, I found this chart very helpful, regardless of whether you use NDF or another type of chelator.

It discusses the need for properly preparing a patient to withstand the rigors of any detox and how to avoid unnecessary pitfalls by being on the "lookout for and addressing 'sneaky' acute obstacles and focal isuses before, and that may suddenly appear during heavy metal chemical detoxification, which will make the patient miserable."

Some of the issues on the chart that can interfere with detox are conditions like Asymptomatic acute or undiagnosed chronic protozoan infection; pinworms; candida; history of closed brain trauma; exposure to chlorine; antibiotic therapy; dehydration; unidentified food allergies, and more. The chart also explains how these conditions will interefer with detox and suggests possible remedies.

It seems that it really might be helpful to find a holistic practitioner or any type of practitioner who'd be willing to work with you and at least order some functional tests before beginning detox. And also to have someone on hand to order further tests if a pitfall should occur during detox. A few of the U.S. labs that I know of that do functional testing are Diagnos-Techs, Inc., Metamatrix Clinical Lab, and Genova Diagnostics (formerly Great Smokies Lab). Their websites have detailed information on the types of functional tests they offer and how they can be of help.

Quite a timely post there Sharon,

I'm due to be treated by Timothy Ray soon for severe and chronic suicidal depression and anxiety. I too am not ready for mercury detox yet, as other things need to be addressed. One of them is something Tim Ray discovered himself, that high ammonium prevents mercury to be detoxified effeciently. Ammonia and mercury are explosive lab chemicals when they collide, and can cause severe side effects. Yes, there are lots of good articles on that website, and more recent ones in the Explore magazine, which mentions some of the newer products he has invented. Everything he says seems like common sense to me, so i'm looking forward to see what happens. And as for these horror stories i hear about NDF, yes it's an aggressive chelator, which is exactly why the inventor has a very methodical approach in detox. It's only supposed to be taken once the gut and organs of elimination are up to max. Anyway i'll let you know how i get on. Chris.

How did you get to be treated by Tim Ray himself? I contacted him once and he said he lived in Switzerland (not so far from me, I live in Belgium). He recommended the Paracelsus clinic and other practitioners in Switzerland.

Fascinating info about the ammonia that you shared, Dental Holocaust. I believe that high levels of yeast (candida) produce ammonia as a byproduct. I have candida issues as well. It seems that I have a considerable amount of work to do before beginning any chelation with all my health issues.

I'd also be curious to hear where you'll be seeing Tim Ray.

I'm recapping my questions here because I had so many for you, Dental Holocaust. lol!

2. Which country is Tim Ray practicing in?
3. Which test was done (blood or some other) to determine your levels of ammonia?

The ammonia level was determined by urine and saliva samples. He practices in Switzerland, and at times England. Explore can be subscribed at www.explorepub.com

I'm going to be treated by him because another therapist asked him if he could treat me, because i've been a severe resistant case for a very long time. He currently isn't seeing any new patients as far as i'm aware.

Thanks for that info. I just had a bunch of testing done although I don't know whether an ammonia level was tested. I'll just wait and see what all the tests show and then move forward.

I've got to get some of my underlying health issues resolved or supported in some way before even thinking about chelation.

It's hard, as everyone here knows. Because most of the health issues we have are attributable to metal toxicity. And the only way to deal with that is chelation. But sometimes we're just not strong enough to chelate. It's a double-edged sword!

Interesting stuff!!! I believe I read somewhere that mercury is used in the processing of chlorine....maybe that has something to do with the reaction. Also I had a really bad herxheimer when I orally used food grade H202....I wonder if it was reacting to the ammonia from the dying yeast. I often used to smell ammonia in my urine...when I was actively killing candida.

Wow, this heavy metal issue is just more and more discomboobalating my brain <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />....I can't believe the extent of the damage that mercury has caused in the hands of the medical professionals. I was looking at my son's vaccination records today...they had shots at 2, 4, 6 and 12 months and again at 24 months and one for MMR at 18 months...and then boosters in grade school for hepatitus, etc. It makes my skin crawl.

Sandi, I know what you mean about the immunizations. Whenever I think about the immunizations my daughter got I weep. I wish I'd known about all this stuff then!!

Hi guys,

I am considering chelating with the NDF Plus once I'm ready for chelation (my doctor recommended it). But since you said that ammonia interferes with the body's ability to detox the mercury, then how do you start out? Do you get tested to see if ammonia is an issue for you? And then do you detox the ammonia before moving on to address the mercury?
