I found a great article about chronic mercury poisoning. Alfred Stock a scientist suffered from chronic mercury poisoning with mental and physical symptoms. His co-workers got well after 1-2 years. Stock who was exposed to mercury vapors for over 20 years needed more time to recover.

This article is from 1926. At this time there were no chelators available and people got well doing nothing.

This shows:

1. You have to be very patient.
2. Symptoms will disappear gradually.
3. Relapses will happen during the recovery period
4. Mental Symptoms can go away without chelation
5. Mercury is very bad for you <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

There is still one thing that we have to keep in mind. In 1926 people were not exposed to so many toxins and probably eating less processed food.

BTW, that was my last post, forgot to login.....

You have to have your channels of elimination cleared of yeast, dairy and gluten to efficiently eliminate the mercury...that is crucial or it will just get redistributed, possible to vital organs.

This was a comment by Dr Hesham El-Essawy on another site :

Many of my patients reported the lifting of depression, anxiety, moodiness within a very short time of the total mercury decontamination of their mouths. I do not know the mechanism for that, and I am reporting this point so that those able to study the link between psychiatric illness and mercury would tell me one day what the mechanism is. The question here is that mercury, though out of the mouth, is not out of the brain in such a short time (two wks.) so, could these psychiatric illnesses be caused by the galvanic currents alone? I do not know.

Virtually 100% of the dozens of patients I've had suffering depression improve within 2 wks. One patient, who was depressed before amalgam removal, told me today that shw now has a positive attitude to life that she did not have before, and that she feels like a child!

Kindest regards.

Cutler says that the vast majority of mercury symptoms are caused by its ability to disrupt your endocrine system. So... if mercury is causing hyroid or adrenal problems, it can cause mental symptoms. Some of the main features of endocrine disorders are mental. This would mean you wouldn't necessarily have to get the mercury out of your brain to get some of the depression to do away, if your hormones started working better.

Asus, correct me if I'm wrong here. I thought Cutler said that endocrine symptoms are usually directly related to brain mercury, isn't that where the hormone control centre is?

I do know that he mentioned mercury in organs, like the liver etc can cause mental symptoms and people may think it is mercury in the brain and it is not always so. This is why some people who chelate body mercury can heal and why others do not if they have significant brain mercury and need to use a specific chelator to deal with that (ie ALA). Those with significant brain mercury, may find little response until they actively chelate it out with an appropriate chelator, in a safe controlled fashion.

At any rate, here is an original post between Andy and someone else, on Brain v body symptoms of mercury.

Thanks Bex, that is more detailed than what I saw. He explained it more in that post than in his book. I was just going based on the fact that hypothyroid and addisson's/adrenal exhaustion can cause depression independent of mercury, thus if mercury was impacting the function of those organs, you'd get mental symptoms even though it isn't necessarily the brain thats doing it. But... that post clears it up a bit more. I'm not sure its realistic to assume if you have it in your body that you don't have it in your brain anyways...

HI Asus, no worries. I find it all rather confusing actually. And yeah, there would have to be brain mercury, as mercury has an affinity to the brain and any other fatty tissue.

But I guess it depends how large the burden is compared to the body. If it's mainly body, then normal chelation will get a person feeling well. If it's mainly brain, it may not impact them much at all from what I heard.

Cheers

Hypoglycemia can cause mental symptoms. I remember cutler says this can be caused by mercury damaging the pancreas.

Well-written account. This was just posted online Jan. 18. Unfortunately, the translater got the citation wrong: It was published in volume 39 (not 29). Here's the link (it might work): http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/cgi-bin/jissue/112254155
