Is anyone else totally confused as much as me about treatments. I have read and heard so many different things from people I have visited that I have absolutely no idea what to do next. The toxic Neurologist I saw said nobody should be self treating with DMSA as it is far too dangerous. She was then going to give me an infusion of ALA. I didnt know what it was at the time, but as my vein collapsed she couldnt give to me anyway. I dont know now if ths would have been dangerous to me. This is coming frome someone who has worked with toxic patients in the NHS for twenty years , so of course I went with total faith in her. Now I dont know what or who to believe. What scares me is that we are individual and have different sensitivites. I f things were right we should all be diagnosed properly and treated as such. I find the whole thing so confusing it alone is enough to drive you insane. I am scared of makiing myself any worse than I am, I can't afford to just experiment with things as I, as others, have a family to take care of. Its a nightmare, we shouldn't have to diagnose or treat ourseves with something so serious. Does anyone else feel like this? Sorry needed to vent feel so sad and angry that is going on.

ALA, alpha lipoic acid?? An infusion?? Tracy, did you discuss with her ALA's nature, it's half-life, and the redistribution effect that comes from a large - as I suspect it being an infusion - ALA dose , especially to the brain that this substance enters? Cause she better had good facts backing her up or she acts utterly irresponsible in her ignorance! If she's dealt with toxicity, than she should now the facts and should be opened minded to discuss it with you!
Always trust yourself tracy, what this doc offered you seemed higly suspicious to its safety, you are right to be wary.

No she didnt discuss it with me I had just had a tooth removed, cyst removed and cavity with abcess cleaned and sewn. I didnt even know what she was giving me cos the drip had a bag over it and I thought it wa vit c cos I had discussed with her that I thought I was allergic to this and she did a test and said I wasnt. I t was only when my vein collapsed that Keith removed the bag and saw that it said vit c and ALA. I just wanted to go home and did. The funny thing was the bit that must have got through before my vein collapsed, which wasnt much made my head start burning straight away. I mean it really hurt. Havnt spoken to her since has she has been away over Christmas. I dont know who to listen to or trust any more and feel like Im going crazy thinking about it.

I also had an ALA infusion given by a doctor supposedly knowlegeable in mercury toxicity matters. I had massive visual disturbances during the infusion - I had to stop reading as I couldn't focus anymore - and I had a big headache. Later that evening I developed the most excrutiating gut ache I have ever had - it lasted all night, and I was absolutely wrung out the next day. ALA is high sulfur, and gave the candida a field day.
I also did not know that it was an ALA infusion - thought it was Vit C. Unsurprisingly this seriously tested my faith in this doctor. I told him about the side effects on my next visit - he looked them up and they were all listed in an official medical publication, so they are well documented in people who may not know they are mercury toxic.
With all the mercury that would have been redistributed, I consider myself lucky that I didn't have a worse reaction. Tracy - I would seriously question this doctor ....
How are you doing, anyway? Nicola
