Hi everybody. I´m spanish, and I wrote here a few months ago, telling my story. I had mercury poissoning as well as yeast infection, and Epstein barr virus. I was taking DMSA for 6 months and my levels of mercury fell considerably, and I was in a diet against the yeast, but my chronic fatigue continued getting worse. I decided to go to a clinic in Switzerland called Paracelsus in wich I stayed for 3 weeks two months ago. There, They made me a lot of analysis, finding more things like:
- Mercury poissoning (still) and arsenic one - Dysbiosis - Inmune system deficiency - Alimentary intolerances - oxidative stress - Parasites, yeast and viruses infections. - Irregular breathing - lack of essentials fats, between other things
The main therapies was infusions with DMPS, gluthation, selenase, Vitamin C, and many homeophatic products, ozonetherapy and others like biorresonence, massages therapies, etc...
I´m now on a complet treatment in Spain with many medicines (ortomolecular and homeophatic ones), infusions with a homeophatic chelate intead of DMPS, and neuraltheraphy, as well as being in a strict diet adapted to my blood type and totally ecologicical.
The problem is that I continue very bad, very tired, without appetite, with nauseas, etc...And I don´t know wich is the problem, because I have known people there completly cured from Chronic Fatigue, and they used to begin to improve in a few weeks. Someone has done some treatment like the mine? Do you have some idea or advice regardind to this? I know you centre the problem in the mercury, but in this clinic they consider that this is only a piece of a big puzzle.
Thanks very much for your answers and sorry my english, Sergio from Spain

I'm sorry to hear of your continuing chronic fatigue, despite very comprehensive treatment at Paracelsus. I had a look at the website, and this is a possibility for me - I am based in Belgium. The nausea, lack of appetite and fatigue sound like adrenal problems to me. The adrenals are normally weakened by mercury, and chelating weakens them further. Do you take any form of adrenal support?

Yes adrenal support is very important as is following a sugar free diet and avoiding gluten and dairy too. So many people try to detox from heavy metals without following a candida diet and it is very hard to do.
I take an adrenal support called Adrenasense by Lorna Vanderhaege and it seems to be working well for me. And taking a good probiotic is essential too.

Hi Nicola, I think you have looked the web site of the parecelsus clinic of EEUU, bu this one is closed. The main clinic, and the one I went has the following web: www.paracelsus.chOf course they have tested me the hormones, and I have the DHEA lower than the normal level, but they don´t want to prescribe sinthetic hormones directly because they want stimulate the adrenals glands indirectly by mean of homeophaty, and neuraltherapy, with the goal of being my own body the manager of repairing this subject. The only direct adrenal support I take now is melatonine I was taking DHEA for 4 months and my levels of this hormone lowed instead of raising, What do you use or know that is appropiate for the adrenal fatigue?

It is normal to have low DHEA and all other hormones when your adrenals are not functioning properly. I have also tried homoeopathic drops etc for adrenals, and frankly, my level of adrenal fatigue was well beyond what they could do. If you can go to a desert island, do nothing but relax and eat good food, and have zero stress, they might work in time. I however live in the real world with 3 young children, work, and a demanding life generally. I was bedridden for 2 months before I got onto replacement hormones. Cortisol (which the adrenals produce) is a hormone necessary to life. Without it you die. You are not functioning properly now because you don't have enough. You need to get your head around replacing what the body cannot produce until the mercury is gone and you are healed. Adrenal healing can take two years or longer. In the meantime you need to support your body by taking cortisol and enabling it to heal.
I KNOW about adrenal suppression, and it is true that taking hydrocortisone will suppress the body's own production. There is plenty of debate about this on adrenal fatigue boards, and the general view is that if you stick to a physiological dose, ie 20mg or less a day, then you will not suppress the adrenals permanently.
The idea is that you take the hydrocortisone until the adrenals are healed, then slowly wean off it, allowing the body's own production to kick back in. This is the theory, but there is mixed opinion on whether this does actually happen, and you may need to take additional hydrocortisone for a long time. But, do you have much choice? If you have clear adrenal symptoms now, you will either take much longer to heal, or not heal at all, as your body lacks the basic hormones to do so.
You need to do lots more research into this, get some testing done (saliva cortisol tests are more accurate than serum) and decide whether you want to support your adrenals with hydrocortisone. If your adrenal fatigue is not too bad, you may get away with glandulars. By the time I had found out what was wrong with me, I was flat on my back, and had no choice.
BTW, melatonin is not adrenal support. It is the hormone produced by the pineal gland which helps you sleep. It is doing nothing for your adrenals. DHEA is a form of rough and ready adrenal support, but your levels do plummet when you stop taking it. I take 20mg a day, men should take slightly more. Again, you need to do some research on it.
I think the alternative way of dealing with mercury toxicity is great, and I would much rather do it that way than take steroid drugs, but I wasted a lot of money with an alternative doctor and only got worse and worse. I am now improving by taking 5mg of prednisolone (the equivalent of 20mg hydrocortisone) and Armour thyroid hormone. If you have the patience and lifestyle that enables you to do nothing while you heal, then alternative therapies can work, but they will take a long time.
If you want more info, or links, just let me know.
Best Nicola

Is interesting what you say. I have some doubts: I think you are now in a treatment with a aloopathic Dr., and I would like to now what are you taking (medicines, therapies, infusions, etc..) to compare with my treatment. Do you think you feel the efect of DHEA in more time than 2 months (time that I took it)?Do you know some good Dr in this subject, in your state or another one? I would like to write him
thanks for your responses

Sergio I am basically following the recommendations in Andy Cutler's book. I have had all my amalgams removed, and am doing 6mg DMSA rounds. I haven't added ALA yet. I see an endocrinologist in Brussels, who tested my thyroid, adrenals and female sex hormones, all of which were low. He put me on replacement cortisol, Armour thyroid, and estrogen / progesterone. I take supplements per Andy's schedule - milk thistle, zinc, Vit C, selenium, magnesium etc etc. The endocrinologist I see is Thierry Hertoghe - he is Belgium's best, and he is open to the mercury issue, having replaced all his amalgam fillings ten years ago. He himself takes cortisol and Armour every day. He is training lots of other doctors around Europe, including one in Madrid. He isn't perfect as a 'mercury' doctor, as he isn't knowlegeable about the candida side of things, but he is good with adrenals / thyroid. I follow a very strict candida diet, as per this forum. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/candidasupport/This forum is good about adrenal fatigue. Do a search on mercury to bring up people's experiences of adrenals and mercury toxicity. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/adrenalfatigue/Hope this helps. Nicola

I thought I'd chime in here and say that I agree with Nicola's post wholeheartedly. I had a total healthy dental revision nearly 6 months ago. I've experienced amazing results because of it. One huge victory was that by removing the 17 amalgams I have been cured of the Chronic Epstein Barr Virus that had plagued me for so many years. I'll say it again -- this was an enormous victory!
About a month and a half ago I had an Adrenocortex Stress Profile saliva test done to diagnose/rule out Adrenal Fatigue. This test measured my cortisol levels and my DHEA levels. I'd already been tested previously for other hormones and it was found that I was estrogen dominant and lacking in enough progesterone during previous tests. I've been using a phamaceutical grade natural progesterone cream for that.
But I had never been formally tested for adrenal function. Anyway, I was positively diagnosed with Adrenal Fatigue. My cortisol levels were as low as could be. Weirdly, my DHEA levels were high -- and I don't supplement with DHEA. We're still trying to figure that one out.
I have been pretty sick for so many years (and had been trying to boost my adrenals naturally with glandulars and other supplements). Given that I was still in a bad way, I elected to take the recommendation of my doctors and I'm taking a bio-identical form of cortisol -- 5 mg. 3 times a day.
While it's only been a month, it's made a huge difference. My holistic, biological dentist told me months ago that he thought I was a candidate for being treated for Adrenal Fatigue. He evidently sees it alot, especially in people who develope Chronic Epstein Barr Virus as a result of mercury amalgams.
I had 3 docs tell me independently (and unsolicited by my questioning them on this) that they felt I needed to supplement with physiological doses of bio-identical cortisol.
Another thing I've been reading about is copper toxicity. It seems to go along with mercury toxicity, from what I've read so far. And copper toxicity or imbalance problems are seen alot in adrenal fatigue patients.

Somedaysoon You are going to have to change your penname to "been thereanddonethat" Congratulations. There need to be more success stories like us to encourage those who are rehabbing slower. 7 months is outstanding to be feeling so much better.

Alcan, LOL!!! Yes, I suppose I should change my name.
Yes, I'm doing lots better but still have work to do. I'm hoping the adrenal issue was another big answer. I still haven't done formal chelation and don't plan on doing it for a long time, if ever. My body was just too sick and weak.
I still have candida issues and allergies and while the chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia act up occasionally, I'm doing so much better. Meanwhile, I'm slowly tweaking away at things.

Hi, I am from México. I have been practically in bed for over two years and I was wondering if I have mercury poisoning. I don´t have any amalgam fillings but I did work with mercury as part my thesis work in a lab two years ago when I first got sick. It all started with a missed treated salmonella infection: I was overly worked and overly stressed, with few hours of sleep and a very unhealthy street diet.... I was taking the wrong antibiotics so the illness lasted for about a month, thats when I suffered from a severe allergic reaction ... after many months and many doctors I finally came across a doctor who told me I had a severe case of hypothyroidism, autoinmune thyroiditis. Although I have been treated with thyroid hormones and I have been taking anti-depressant for about a year I stilll feel very very tired. I sleep most of the day, and I watch tv for the rest of the day because I feel too tired to do anything else... I can´t read, I can´t concentrate, I get very dizzy, have allergy problems, chemical sensitivity ... I am also taking homeopatic medicine and I am in a candida diet, altough I felt better for a while I keep falling down.... does anyone know if there is a test that I can take in order to know if I have mercury poisoning?

A Stool Test is considered the best by some experts, showing levels excreted through the liver and bowel.
A DMPS or DMSA heavy metal urine test can be a good option. It depends on excretion ability through the kidneys.
Bio-energetic testing such as EAV or VEGA or Autonomic Response Testing is the most reliable, as it can access deeper areas such as the brain, bone marrow or the inside of cells.
As for Paracelsus Clinic, i would place it at the top of my list of disasters. I had to get a massive bank loan to go there for 3 weeks, and ended up having to stop the treatment 2 weeks after i came home, due to a gallbladder flush that went horribly wrong. I'm now paying back the loan over a 4 year period. It probably depends on which doctor you see at the clinic. So not only i am mentally crippled, i came away physically and financially crippled too.

hi Anon this symptoms "very tired, without appetite, with nauseas" in my experience sound like the liver. There are some wonderful herbs and homeopatics for this symptoms that work really well.eg St. marys thistle etc. I had the symptoms for years no one knew why.. eventually was treated with herbs and homeopatics and I am fine now. all the best
