I have bouts of muscle twitching and spasms off and on. I usually start taking magnesium complex twice a day instead of once a day. This seems to help aleviate the spasms. Hope this helps.

I am getting these too. I have also have twitches in my back, hands, stomach, just about anywhere. I noticed my right calf twitching just today, while I was sitting here on the computer. It drives me crazy. I can't remember, it is good or not to take the magnesium while you still have your amalgams in? Isn't there a certain type you have to take, and can't it make some people sick? I have heard of some side effects of taking magnesium for some people.

Muscle twitches and spasms anywhere in the body (even eye twitches) can be the result of magnesium deficiency. This is very common in people with mercury poisoning because mercury interferes with the body's ability to utilize magnesium. Constipation, anxiety, fatigue and headaches are other magnesium-deficiency symptoms that are common in mercury toxic individuals. I've also read, but have not fully confirmed, that magnesium deficiency can contribute to the accumulation of toxic metals such as mercury in the brain. Hence, magnesium helps to protect the body against heavy metal toxicity. I know I used to experience a lot of leg cramps, muscle aches and pain, stiff neck, headaches and constipation before I had my amalgams removed. Even though I've had my amalgams removed, I take extra magnesium, since I still have mercury in my tissues. The research I've done indicates that magnesium citrate and magnesium malate are two of the best forms of magnesium supplements to get, as they are better absorbed than the common magnesium oxide. Here's some information on the magnesium I use: Magnesium Complex Hope this helps!

I too have had a lot of muscle twitching which diminished with a liquid multi vitamin my ND put me on as part of my protocol. I had really severe twitches in my legs and thighs for a month and at odd times throughout my body.

Thank you, Laura. That Magnesium Complex sounds really good. I think my husband should take it too, as he has asthma and has had kidney stones.
