Just got an email from a good friend who lives in Australia who happened to mention that when she was pregnant her dentist recommended that she have all her amalgams removed which she did. I was absolutely horrified. Her daughter is now 3 years old and seems normal enough, although I haven't seen her for a long while. I'm now really worried and wonder if I should say anything to my friend. WHEN IS THIS MADNESS AND PURE NEGLIGENCE GOING TO STOP?!!!!

Lucie, I know lots of people over the years, myself included that had dental work including fillings put in or taken out during pregnancy. The fact that in the UK you get free dental treatment on the NHS if you are pregnant, I think, prompts a lot of people to get it done then. I would hope that now a lot more people are aware of silver fillings and the damage that can be done to your health with them, I know a lot more dentists here now recommend white fillings than the silver ones, but I still know tons and tons of people with silver fillings in or who are still getting them. Luckily all the people I know who have had fillings done in pregnancy have had no problems themselves or with their children. I guess it comes back to how well the body can detox itself of the mercury when the fillings are placed or drilled.

I had dental work done during pregnancy and my daughter is now hypothyroid, and probably has been since birth. It is only since I developed chronic fatigue (mercury toxicity) myself and researched it that I worked out that she was actually hypothyroid - before I just thought she was chubbier than my other children, more emotionally labile, with abnormally dry skin. She also has candida. Children may appear to be normal and OK, but if you know what you're looking for you'll find mercury symptoms. I am not proud of what I have passed on to my children - my son is also affected. The dentists are poisoning us for generations to come.
