For 2 years now, I have stopped using ordinary antiperspirant that contains aluminum, etc. I only us an herbal product that has no chemicals- nor aluminum.

I have noticed this past Summer, that when I sweat after cutting the grass, or a hard day at work, that my underarm sweat smells rancid and metalic. it smells horrible.

I'm wondering if the lingering mercury in my body is being sweated out and smells like this.

If I could afford it- I would definitly use an infra-red sauna, but I dont have alot of money for that and have bills to pay.

I have read that sweating is a great way to get the metals out and you should shower it off your skin asap afterwards. I was thinking about trying a sauna too, but wouldn't the wood absorb some of the excreted mercury? I sure wouldn't want to reabsorb what has already been sweated out. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

hi! I read that there are certain infra-red saunas that are safe to use - with no re-absorption. That's all I heard so far about that.

Thanks for the tip on washing immediately afterwards-- I use a garden hose to rinse myself off immediately after cutting our lawn- and I do feel great as I jump into the shower right afterwards and lather myself off from any film. My skins respond best with Natural soaps minus any chemical additives.

Hi there, I've had the same thing. I used to sweat and smell like metal. So yeah, metals/mercury are coming out of you.

A good thing to do if you can handle it and if you can't afford a sauna, is to have hot baths using epsom salts or (baking soda and sea salt). That can induce further toxic release through your pores and to shower off after it or rinse yourself off with fresh water afterwards.

Also, if you can handle it? Exercising also. particularly doing it inside and possibly even overdressing a little at the time. This is if you do sweat. Some people with this hardly sweat, some sweat too much.

If you have a treadmill? that's a good one to use. Particuarly the ones that you can put on different levels like walking up hill.

A lot of vitamin C powder in water is good to help also. Any antioxidants will help - vitamin E, vitamin C, selenium (selenomethione form is best) etc.

There is a volatile gas that smells terribly metallic that comes from my armpits somedays...especially if I take magnesium, specifically malate.

It will disappear if I don't take a shower which makes me believe that it truely is something gassing out of my lymph nodes from my armpits, and not just bacteria making the smell.

All I can say is it smells sharp!

This is why you can get symptoms of mercury toxicity from breathing in your own vapors (when it offgasses out of your pores).

I used to get it when it came off my skin, when I bathed or exercised. As crazy as this sounds and it will sound crazy, I would get wheezing in my lungs and uncontrollable giggling fits, as though I had been expoed to some gas.

A similar thing used to occur when I had amalgams and drank any hot fluids. Basically because the heat increased the vapor from the fillings and I would breath it in.

By the way, some forms of magnesium can act as a mild chelating agent with mercury. Might be why you notice this smell more when you're taking it!

If the mercury is coming out of your pores, that is one of the best ways and I would encourage it if yu can, without overdoing it or making yourself ill.

Thanks everyone for your good suggestions.. Bex, I particularly like yours-- I have tried Epsom Salt baths a few times last year and let me tell you-- it was HEAVEN! We only have one bathroom in our home that I share with my parents- so taking a bath is a luxery when someone is always banging on the bathroom door for me to hurry it up. I only have the chance for a quick shower every night. I't's been especially bad since this year my dad is home recovering from Prostrate removal surgery.

So I will be planning Epsom Salt/ Sea Salt baths in the coming days ahead- There are a few days this month my parents will be out of the house.

I also like the sweating it out by excersizing inside idea and keeping up on the Vitamin C and selenium.

Just bought a fresh bag of raw nuts high in selenium im eating every day. WIll up the Vitamin C /bioflavonoid amount now too. I slacked on that this Summer.

Thanks -- it's good to know that this smell is what I suspected after all-- !

Hi, you're welcome. I hope that you do get to have those hot baths with the epsom salts or the baking soda and sea salt. I think you just use about a cup of each or something.

But yeah the antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium (best used in the form of selenomethionine), etc are pretty good basic ones and I think they help increase the glutathione levels in the body and if you have mercury readiy avaiable that is able to come out your pores, this usually encourages that to happen even more (plus the heat from bathing and/or exercising).

They only encourage removal of mercury that is pretty much extra cellular mercury and is accessible to be eliminated. The intracellular mercury needs to be chelated out properly with a specific chelating agent.

I'm really sorry to hear about your Dad! I hear that is common for men to have these prostate problems and do hope he recovers well.

P.S. if only you could work out some regime to where you could have your bathtime at a time when people won't interrupt and will know it's "your time".... hard to do when you got too many in the same house though.

lol... i hear ya!

well where there is a will, there is a way, and I am going to make it happen -- and will be announcing it to my family this week that I am planning some detox baths in the next few months-- and that they have to give me at least 30 minutes at night- or else!.

I am really looking forward to this.

I think a water filter can help someone who has flouiride in thier water and is afraid to take this kind of bath. Thankfully we have hard well water here, and it has not caused me any ill reactions.

Thanks again-- I am going to keep up with the anti-oxidant supplimentation as you suggested too and am going to be doing a serious colon cleanse soon.

Peace!
