Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone knows of any natural methods to increase DHEA levels ?
I finally got back a lot of results from my hormones tests and surprisingly my levels of DHEA are virtually zilch. Naturally, I have heard of this hormone but have never really given it much thought.
DHEA in supplement form is banned in Australia. So just wondering if there are any other supplements which could help and any particular foods etc that may help.
Thankyou!!

Slightly off topic, but most 'banned' products in Australia can usually be imported from overseas for private use. The restriction comes in that the products cannot then be onsold commercially. I import things regularly (into Australia) and have never had any customs issues - and each package is always checked & declared appropriately.

I understand that DHEA is available through some compounding pharmacists in Aussie. It is not natural (as in herbal) but is in a natural form (same molecular structure as the DHEA your body would make). If you contact Pathlab in Melbourne they would be able to tell you where to go. Their details are 68 Burwood Hwy, Burwood Vic 3125 Ph: 03-8831 3000

Funny thing is I have High DHEA and low cortisol. hmmmm. Andy says that this could be to mercury however most people with adrenal fatigue have both low cortisol and DHEA. Go figure nowbody has ever called me normal.

Be careful, DHEA boosts testosterone which amplifies the toxic effects of mercury. May only be a issue with guys though... I know it makes my brain feel terrible.

I have too much DHEA (steroid). I dont' know if I do now, but in the past, I had been tested twice on different occassions and showed to have too much steroid hormone.
I am female and I have big problems with body hair, which I gather coudl be due to this. I've had the problem since I was a child. I have low estrogen levels also. And yet I am sure I have low corisol becuase I have adrenal fatigue.
So yeah, basically I'm a bit of a mess

I had low cortisol high dhea and low testosterone. Have you had any luck determining why your levels are the way they are? I have the same issue...and can't seem to find any reason why they maybe this way. thanks

hi I have been researching the same subject.. The only thing I have found is that studies have shown that maca helps to increase DHEA in people.

Mmm Maca hey! When I worked in a health food store about 5 years ago Maca was all the rage. Now I don't hear much about it. Seems to have gone out of fashion so to speak. I have heard that the biggest problem with Maca is that good quality Maca is hard to find these days. I went to a Maca seminar a number of years ago and the company was naturally plugging their own product and told us about how there is a lot of dodgy goings on down in South America (can't remember exactly what country it is grown - wherever the Andes are). Apparently they add a lot of fillers to it like regular dried yams that have no therapeutic value.
