I am scheduled to have an extraction on a back molar in a few days,i was wondering if it is safe to be put to sleep for this procedure,or should i just bare it,by just numbing of the area.

Everyone is different, but it would be safer (less toxins in your system) to do the local. My body had a hard time "waking up" after being put to sleep a few years ago. Now I know it was because I was already so toxic, it took a lot longer than "normal" to get everything back to working again.

I have to think about that,i need the tooth out,as it was root canaled then filled with amalgam, all the way to the root,so i'm not even gonna try to save it. Itis throbbing like crazy,as the dentist tried to remove it in the office, but it would not budge,so now i have to see an oral surgeon. My nd told me to make sure they remove the periodontal nerve,to aid in cavitation prevention. Any insight on that one?

For what it's worth, I chose local for both wisdom tooth extraction and jaw surgery. I am very dental phobic, if that is any consolation. But I prefer to have as little unnatural intervention as possible, and it's important to me that I have a dentist who will do removals and replacements without locals. I had to make the choice with one extraction whether to be put to sleep. It wasn't an easy decision because I was terrified of having it out, but in the end I was more concerned about the risks of general, that I went for the local. For me it was the right decision, but only you know how you feel and what you can cope with.

Yeah you have a point,i had an endoscopy done earlier this year, and i had no problems or ill effects, and this tooth feels like my head if you know what i am getting at,them pulling it out may feel like them ripping my head from out of my neck <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
