Hi All, I have previously posted on the 'Introductions' board but I'll briefly introduce myself here: My name is Melanie, I'm 35 yrs old, from the UK and had Amalgams for approx 13 years. Over the years I've suffered lots of 'little' problems which, having researched amalgam fillings, realise could be attributed to my ill health. My main health areas lie within chronic headaches (constant for the past 12 years), stomach/intestinal probs for approx 4 years and MCS - which seems to have gotten worse over the last few months. I had one amalgam replaced 4 years ago with composite and 2 weeks ago had the remaining two replaced. I can't say at this stage I have noticed any significant changes other than I seem to feel a little more energetic and I'm sleeping better - conincidence? Not sure yet. During the last year I have lost over two stones through sheer hard work within my eating regime and going to the gym. Even so, I still had to be very strict with what I ate, and how much, as it would easily go back on. The strange thing I have noticed is that, despite being away for 5 days and drinking merrily and eating lots of cake - and, upon my return, still eating 50-100% more than previously - I have been to the gym today and I have actually lost weight in comparison to my weight before I went away. I am pretty gobsmacked about this and hoping it isn't a coincidental 'querk' as It will be lovely to not feel I still have to watch every morsal I eat! Is this common amongst you others who have had amalgams removed? I am currently awaiting a delivery of DMSA and hope to shortly start taking that - and magnesium. I tried Selenium but it upset my stomach no end and had to stop taking it. On a side note: I'd like to thank you regular posters as I've found your advice/help to others invaluable and encouraging!
Melanie

I know some have lost weight, but I have gained. But I have hypothyroidism which may have gotten worse being that I am just menopausal. I have been trying to find out if the replacement fillings (Diamondlite) have any fluoride in them, which would cause a drop in thyroid function, but the company is very non-cooperative. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
