Hi I recently started my amalgam removal by having a quadrant replaced. I mentioned to my new dentist that my old dentist had to put posts in a couple of my molars and built up the amalgam around them because she said there was not much tooth left. My old dentist told me that the posts were made of gold however my new dentist thinks that they are made of titanium. My new dentist plans on leaving the bottom of the posts in my teeth as she said that she does not want to take out any of the good part of my tooth in order to get the entire post out. Does her plan sound alright? I had the reactivity test done and I am ok for both gold and titanium but I would like to have the posts taken out. I would very much appreciate any advice. Thanks alot.

If there is not much tooth left, why don't they pull it and put in a partial plate or bridge? Does the tooth have a root canal, if it does, be sure and take it out cause root canals can cause terrible problems too.
