I have had sevier sleepiness for several years. I only have three or four amalgams but I was a dental assistant for two years a long time ago.
I also tested positive for lyme dx about two years ago.
Now I am trying to decide if I should do the ION Panel from Metrametrix or just have the amalgams removed.
My husband has a lot more dental work than I do. I worry about him because he is absent minded and getting worse. He has lots of amalgams and root canals with gold crowns. If we both do the tests with Metrametrix and have our amalgams removed I am concerned about the cost.
Is the test from Metrametrix worth the money? It is supposed to be 675.00, and if the Dr wants to add to the cost he can.
If I had not been to so many Drs in the past and tried so many things I would not be so concerned about the money.
None of the tests I have done showed I had mercury. I don't know how I could not have it when I use to handle it daily when I was a dental assistant. Please give me some suggestions about doing this test. Thanks, sas

You won't find any mercury no matter what test you do. It mostly does not show up because it has already been bound up in your tissues, organs etc and though it can get mobilised, it doesn't normally show up in blood, urine or hair tests. Someone who might be eliminating the mercury rapidly, may show a higher level than someone who is storing it tightly and does not easily eliminate mercury. But regardless, most likely it won't show up. The only way to test for mercury is probably a hair analysis test and not to check for levels so much (though in soe cases it might be indicative if they are releasing it), but to check for the particular minerals that mercury distrubs and find out which ones are distorted. There are often patterns to what mercury does with the minerals in the body and on a website I belong to called http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/frequent-dose-chelation/ You can read the links and files section and somewhere on there I think it talks about the hair analysis test and you can get advice from people on that forum who know what steps you can take and will help you to read it. But regardless, the fact you've worked as a dental assisant? And have amalgams, even if there are not many, will be enough to keep your body in storage mode instead of it being able to start dumping what it's been storing and been exposed to. Usually when the last amalgam has been removed, the organs etc will at some point start to dump out their storage of mercury into the blood, which can feel like repoisoning. So once all amalgams are done, a person needs to start chelating pretty quickly to try and reduce the mercury faster and to grab onto the mercury that will start to come out on it's own into the blood. I'm not sure about the test you are mentioning. But you could try asking on the forum I sent you.

I used the 24 hour urine test with provocation from Metametrix, but not the ION panel. Mine friend has used this lab also. I think the lab is used by the environmental health clinic that he goes to in Texas.
