I recently got 11 amalgums replaced with composites. i believe i have a yeast problem, parasites and malabsorbtion ..my belly is like 3 months pregnant! i am chelating right now with Vit C, E, etc. and am currently doing a heavy metal detox. my next step was going to be DMSA and ALA... but, i'm reading Cutlers book ..Amalgum Illness: dx and tx.. and he says "correcting malabsorbtion is the first order of business since supplements become expensive sewage and don't do you any good if you don't absorb them." ...basically that i should treat the candida, parasites first... because i can't absorb any of these vitamins or minerals. this makes sense to me. so...i'm thinking i will finish the heavy metal detox...put the DMSA and ALA on hold (i need to hold off the ALA til Oct. anyway).. and do a candida/parasite program... then come back to the DMSA/ALA protocol which could take at least 6 months. any thoughts on this??

Just remember that the vitamins don't chelate mercury. Only DMSA and DMPS do this, and ALA to a lesser degree (ALA has the amazing ability to mobilize mercury in the brain area). Vitamins and minerals will make your body stronger, but they will also mobilize, this means move mercury around in your body and brain without binding and safely excreeting it. So vitamin dosing depends on how poisoned you are. Some of us can't take any vitamins at all as we get mercury stired up and this hits us hard without chelating mercury out........But, yeah, if you don't feel at deaths door with vitamins and minerals, it's a very good thing to do before starting chelation therapy. Go nice and slow with the candida killing. The yeast contains mercury if you are severly poisoned and this will be released when it is killed by anti-fungals. It's essential to get the candida under control, as both ALA and DMSA contribute to this problem greatly......Taking psyllium shakes alternating with bran fiber will also sweep out mercury and dead candida from your colon.

Yep, I agree with the above post. Sometimes even vitamins and minerals can move mercury around on their own, but I assume it's due to the body getting more of what it needs perhaps and attempts then to mobilise some of the storage of mercury.

again, antifungal use is risky, but in some people with severe yeast issues, they may need to use them so I'm not saying never touch them, but it's best if you can to lower the yeast with diet alone due to what "can" happen with antifungals.

best wishes.

Yep, again I agree witht eh above post. Yeast DOES contain mercury if you've had the yeast for sometime and if you do anything to kill it on impact with powerful antifungals (even natural ones), you will very likely pop open yeast cells and the mercury contained in them will release right into your system, repoisoning you. Some people seem to think this is a good idea to get more mercury out, but I think it's risky and can push a person over the edge if they are not ready for it. It's done it to me.

The best way to deal with yeast is to starve it out and battle it by denying it everything you can. No sugar, no yeast, no gluten, no milk (by the way, milk can intefere with mercury excretion so best to avoid anyway) and preferably no fruit due to natural sugar. But some people can actually handle a little bit of fruit eachday day, for me my yeast is so bad I cannot do so. You might be ok.

I stay awake from milk because of the lactose content (natural sugar), plus the inteference with mercury excretion. Not sure how it does this, but apparently it most definitely does and some people who are very sick with mercury find they can detox it easier once they cut milk out. But to my mind, sugar, gluten and yeast are the worst culprits next to milk.

If you have not done this, you might want to try it. You might find you also go through a yeast die off as it's being starved, it will most likely begin to sicken, shrivel and die. It is not risky like antifungals because the yeast do not pop open so much, they just release their death toxins (yeast toxins) and it might make you feel pretty lousy for awhile (dizzy, drunkish and headachey etc), but it means you are healing and this die off can last from a few days, up to three weeks.

Stay away from garlic supplements. I have been severely damaged by them and still can't recover. They are dangerous in mercury toxic people and not worth risking. All I did was to take them for oneday and have done terrible damage which has gone on now for months. I assume this is from massive mercury mobilisation into far worse areas and into my brain and gut etc. I am in pain most days now.

ALA is more powerful than DMSA and DMPS. and should never be used too early on, or on too high a dose for you, or if you've had a mercury redistribution from something else. If you use ALA in these situations, you will most likely worsen your condition ten fold. It's scary stuff, but obviously fantastic when it's used at the right time later down the track when a person is more stablised from lowering their blood and tissue levels of mercury with DMSA or DMPS first, or waiting until their body does it naturally (some people like me need something to do this because I retain mercury and do not excrete it).

ALA does indeed chelate mercury powerfully and does chelate brain and organ mercury, but again, use it cautiously. This is just my experience.

Again, as for antifungals, if you have a severe case of yeast infection that is not helped by diet alone, you may not have much choice but to use them, but try the diet first if you haven't already. If you do have to use antifungals, make sure you're slow and careful and see how you go. I have heard in some things I've read that yeast can actually absorb phenomenal amounts of mercury, even holding their own weight in mercury, so you can see the risk.

I agree that it is a very good idea to optimize your digestion before attempting chelation and that includes getting the candida under control. Optimal digestion is crucial to facilitate efficient elimination of metals. And yes go easy on the antifungals,go very gently to avoid releasing more metals.

this is lion of judah.... thanx for your replys...
just to make it clear... i started a yeast cleanse and using antifungals with no problems... but stopped because i learned that it was best to get the amalgums out first. so i stopped the yeast cleansing... now, since the amalgums are out i have been naturally chealating......... now i learned that its best to get the yeast/parasites out for better absorbtion of the vitamins/minerals... which makes sense. my stomach is bloated and i'm wondering if my body is absorbing the heavy metal detox and the other chelating products that i am using. i i may have malabsorbtion...probably leaky gut. to make it clear... i guess my question right now is....should i just follow through and continue with the chealating ...... finishing the heavy metal detox in 2 weeks....starting dmsa in probably 3 weeks.... than beginning the ala in oct. this process will take at least 6 more months. or should i just finish the heavy metal detox and start the candida diet and protocol? i can't do them both at the same time.... too many products. my body is doing o.k. today. it can handle alot... but my stomach is bloated. i'd prefer to stay on track with the chealation, but not if the products are not being absorbed??

I agree about sorting out your absorbtion issues and gut health in general, especially as your gut will be your main organ used to expel heavy metals. I had awful gut problem, and also had a gut that looked like I was mildly pregnant, even though I was quite skinny. At its worst, I had stomach cramps, diagnoised IBS, and could only eat raw food.

To combat the candida, I started off merely eating fresh egg yolk for protein (this can be dangerous so you really need to do a lot of research should you decided to do that) and various raw vegetables and fruit. Later on, when the candida had died down, I became able to eat cooked meat and various other foods in small quantities without suffering. Now, after 6 months, I'm able to a small amount of chocolate covered brazil nuts (a great souce of protein) and even sometimes ice-cream. But it all has to be fresh and preferably organic.

I still stay away from tap water and fish because of the chance of mercury contamination, and only intake small amounts of dairy. If I do drink milk it's goat's milk as that's alkaline and possibly healthier.

My gut is still slightly enlarged, and it does fluxuate, but it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be.

During this time I was taking chlorella and acidophilus. Apparently, candida really hates fiber, so algin may help in that reguard as well. I even tried some enemas with limited success.

It's really hard to quickly improve your gut health. The best recommendation I can give is get your amalgams replaced, stick to an anti-candida diet (meat and veg basically), and take anything that may help your gut regain its balance and grow back all the bacteria that's required for a healthy gut.

But take note, if the candida is hording mercury, as some people state, as it dies down, more mercury will be released into your system. So it's advisable to take it slowly, and take something to moap up the released mercury.

Now there's less mercury in my system, and my candida has died down, my gut seems able to fix itself.

MY ND's school of thought is to clear up the digestive issues, restore some good flora, close the ileocecal valve, if necessary (that is how the yeast gets systemic to begin with)....and then you can start chelating. If your colon and kidneys are full of yeast and not eliminating efficiently, you are just going to recycle the metals.

There is a good book called "Eating Alive" by Dr John Matsen; in it he explains the importance of restoring digestion to facilitate efficient mercury chelation in very simple and comical layman's terms. In my mind, it is a very good investment.

thanx for your replys. they've been very helpful. i am actually eliminating pretty well. 1-2x daily. and because of that i'm fairly confident to continue chealating the mercury...... after a few months on the dmsa and ala.. with algin, i'll stop and work on the candida/parasite..gut issue. then, i'll probably go back and do a little more chealation while remaining on the candida diet. in the meantime, just for a precaution, i am going to see a gastrointerologist. i don't think i'm going to let him do anything invasive, nor am i going to take any synthetic meds. thats the plan...

If you don't already, you could also try taking digestive enzymes with every meal to help ensure digestion occurs properly so as many nutrients can be absorbed as possible.

Have fun,

There are herbs that can help with parasites and candida, and also improve your digestion at the same time by enhancing liver and gallbladder function. A combination I really like for this is Artemisia Combination. The herbs in this formula can also help eliminate the bloating by improving your digestion and reducing the fermentation and gas production that causes the bloating.

Another contributing factor to your digestive problems may be Helicobacter pylori bacteria, also known as H. pylori. This bacteria has been shown to be present in most cases of ulcers and is linked to related digestive problems including stomach pain, indigestion, gastritis, etc. Gastro-Health has been extremely effective for people with this problem.

Of course, as Karen recommended, digestive enzymes are important. Mercury interferes with the production of the body's enzymes, so in the interim while you're detoxing, supplementation can be very helpful. A full-spectrum enzyme supplement like Proactazyme Plus will help you break down proteins, carbos, fats and plant fiber in fruits and vegetables. Plus, the enzymes in this formula are all plant-derived.

Hope this helps <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

We are following Andy's protocol for chelation and had to first treat all of that as well. It is worth it, but it may not take you 6 months. You will continue with yeast treatment the entire time you chelate anyway. You will need digestive enzymes too. So it is fine to start all that, one at at time and continue it while chelating. As the yeast and other problems will just return with chelation. I have read many chelation protocols and we are using his for both my children and soon myself, as it make sense, and scientifically adds up.
