It's now about 10 weeks since I had my jaw surgery to remove Amalgam root-canal and old infection from the socket, and this month for the first time in 2 years I got a period.
It might be just a coincidence, but it is a hopeful sign of improvement, especially as I still have some mercury-fillings (but they are small and only one covers the entire biting surface of a tooth).
It gives me encouragement to continue, as the diet restrictions I'm on at the moment are difficult (being virtually vegan on no dairy, no high-sulpher, no caffeine, as low carb as I can make it), but to me this is a sign I am doing something right!

wow, this is crazy! did you think you were in early menopause or something? congratulations! you can never predict what the effects of these infections are. i had an infected tooth for quite a while and after i fixed it (opted for a root canal however...), my chronic sore throat disappeared. mercury can affect hormonal balance. i still have my fillings in, and one of the earliest symptoms was low sex drive, virtually none if i have to be honest (at 31), and then my periods have been getting shorter.

Yeah, that is more than a hopeful sign! After two years? and you suddenly get your period again? That is significant and there is no doubt in my mind that already your body is obviously healing and the hormone levels have obviously gone up, or come back into balance again. That is really good and I hope all continues well.

Thanks, everyone
I was so excited to get a period. It was only a small one, but it shows that something is starting to happen and my estrogen levels are falling. I'm sure cutting out milk has helped aswell My periods only really stopped after I got the root canal filling, although they had always been irregular. I had it 1998 and by 2001 I was lucky to get two periods a year.
Anonymous, the ob-gyn said I have PCOS (even though I have no cysts - or didn't, lack of ovulation can cause the cysts), and recommended the pill (mini-progestrone) every day or progesterone pills every 3-4 months. So far I declined both, wanting to see if mercury treatments helped naturally, and it seems like something is starting to happen I didn't really expect it to be so soon after getting that tooth out! It suggests that it only took one cycle for my ovaries to respond, that is quite something If I can get another one before Christmas, then it will mean I don't have to have the pills.
And the crazy thing is that I weigh less now than I have for a couple of years - lost weight with cutting out the dairy and my diet is more restricted. But I think the quality of my food is better now I have mostly organic and by doing the mercury-diet of no dairy, low-sulpher and gluten and increased my protein intake with shakes - I am helping my body to deal with the mercury better.
it's amazing how a tooth can effect so many parts of the body. Thank God there are people who speak out about the dangers of amalgams and leaving dead/infected teeth in the mouth.

I started another period today. So, that is 2 now since June, whereas before I hadn't had one for almost 2 years And this is with having had the removal and cracked tooth.

Since this thread I have had another two periods. One in October and another today. I had real bad pains last night and was in agony. I thought I had eaten something, but then a period came on. It's the heaviest I've had so far and looks like the lining is being shed (the clots) which hasn't happened properly for about 4-5 years for me. 4 periods in 6 months compared to 1 in 2 years before suggests to me that I am right that mercury is the cause of my health problems. I have had small improvements in other areas aswell. Mental symptoms, though, are taking longer to improve.
I found this week that cutting out most gluten intake has helped significantly. I'm going to continue with this diet now and see it if does. It seems to have helped more than cutting out dairy and any other diet. I have also cut out tinned food. I still have a little dairy i.e. milk in a chocolate, but that's all.

HI Demi, sugar and gluten are usually the worst culprits. I'm glad to hear you are noticing signs, that is really good. I know that sugar and gluten can prevent so many good things from happening and cause so many bad at the sametime.
They are certainly the worst, but if someone has bad enough candida, then they have to make even more efforts than that to get results, until of course they improve later on and can relax on their diet more. But again, even then, I'd avoid sugar and gluten as much as humanly possible.
They are finding out that gluten and sugar can cause illness all on their own and in some cases there can be almost a remission of symptoms once they are cleared out of the diet.

Cutting out the gluten seems to be helping with my mental symptoms most significantly, which helps me a lot because they can be very debiliating. Also I am only chewing the side I am amlagam free (as much as I can remember to do so, lol) until I can afford to get the remaining fillings replaced.
I am pretty strict diet wise:I only drink bottled mineral water and for a treat hot chocolate (made of rice milk); I don't have caffeine, alcohol, fish, vinegar, coriander; I try to get at least 30g of protein a day (legumes, nuts and rice are my main sources, being vegetarian); I have rice milk instead of dairy milk (only have dairy milk if it happens to be in a chocolate bar) and I don't have cheese (unless I'm eating out and there are very few choices).
Strange thing is I have lost some weight since cutting out dairy and cakes, but my body must be healthier - which is opposite to what the doctors told me. They said if I put on weight I would be more likely to get periods. So, for me, I am sure it was mercury that caused my problems, which ties in with their onset aswell.
I could definitely do with watching my sugar intake. I don't add sugar to things, but I do like chocolate bars and some sugary deserts. I can't eat fruit, it gives me rhinitis. My diet is very boring, and I am having to soak beans overnight and then cook them for over an hour (as I won't eat from tins), but it seems to be having "some" effect, so I think perserverance is the name of the game.
I do have potatoes and corn-flakes, which may not be the best choices out there, but I do enjoy a bowl of corn-flakes with rice mik and almond flakes. I have walnuts for omega 3, vitamin c (I finally found I am ok with a dissolvable vit c I got at a chemist, which may not be the best vit c out there, but the only one so far I seem to be ok with) and I take a multi-vit.

Hi Demi,
I've been trying to start a new thread but can't for some reason so I'm writing in here.
We've spoken before and you told me where to contact some specialists on mercury chelation (I think). It might have been dentists I can't remember.
Anyway - I've had my fillings removed and need to convince a doctor this Friday that I really do need chelation.
If I can't though I was hoping you could give me the names of some mercury chelation speclialists in England. Do you (or anyone else) know of any?
Much love and I'm glad to hear how well you're doing.
Kind regards - CD (now posting as CRD or C_D)

Hi CD. I only know of one, and that is the doctor that David Harvie Austen refers very sick patients too. I can't remember his name, though, but I'm sure he or someone at the surgery will give contact details. (dentist phone number: 0207-6372732). I think the doctor is based in London.
