Hi Everyone! I went to my local holistic "metal free" dentist here in Phoenix. He did some high tech x-rays which showed that my root canal has an abcess. I could actually see it myself. He is not a "rip all root canals out" dentist, but he gave me the option of re-doing the root canal, an implant or bridge. I definitely don't want another root canal, after what I have read about them. I don't want an implant because they contain metal. I said let's do the bridge.
I asked him if my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and weird symptoms could be from toxins leading from this abcessed tooth. He said it could be. It could also be from the galvanization between the gold crown on the bottom and the amalgam on the top. Either way, getting the root canaled tooth out should help.
Has anyone had a root canaled tooth out? I am hoping it is not too horrible.
Oh - and here is an interesting thing that happened. Yesterday, I went to my regular M.D. - I said "you are going to think I am crazy, but I am going to have all my amalgams out" He actually said "I think you are right." I could not believe a regular doctor would even consider this! He ok'd the labs I wanted - whole blood mercury, fractionated urine porphyrins (per Cutler's book) - the latter was hilarious. Russ, you think your experience with the lab was weird? The poor lab guy that had to deal with me took an hour and a half trying to figure out what to do about the porphyrins test. Finally, he comes to me with this cup and a roll of foil. He says "you need to pee in the dark and make sure no light gets to the urine". There I was in the dark bathroom trying to hit the cup - let me say, for a female this was difficult. I had to call him from the bathroom and he came in the dark with his little roll of foil. He covered the cup from top to bottom. It was just surreal. I told him now he had done it all!

I must say you are lucky to have a doctor who is behind you. Mine basically blew me off and tried to make me look insain. He said that IF they did leak any mercury my body could handle that as I was healthy. He would not even humor me enough to run a test. I have not seen him since. That was two years ago.
Removing a root canal is about the equal of a tooth extraction. I too agree that redoing the root canal will not help you. You will still have a dead tooth and chronic source of toxic bacteria. Go for a metal free replacement. They have great partials now that are metal free. Likely they will remove the tooth, sometimes by pulling it, or making a tiny incision in the gum to remove it, and also cleaning out the dead and infected tissue/bone in the socket. Make sure they do this! If not it will not heal right, and you will have a cavitation. I know it sounds horrible, but this causes no additional pain than removing a tooth without cleaning it. Actually, not cleaning it out might make things worse. Expect to be sore and have some aching for a few days.

What a great story. I was laughing hard while reading it. Make sure that part makes your mercury bio story.
Great to hear about the doctor. The cracks are indeed breaking in the great coverup about mercury.
Let us know what comes of it.
...still laughing...

Spiderbaby, I have had two root canalled teeth removed by an oral surgeon. The reason that they were removed - long before I knew about mercury, is that they failed. Both times, the root split. My former dentist no longer pulls teeth - he has nerve damage in his arms, (but still believes in mercury amalgams!!!!). The oral surgeon did an excellent job and there were no cavitations. Getting the teeth out was simple and painless - no worse than a regular extraction done properly.

Don't worry spiderbaby, this is off topic, but I went to my doctor over something oneday and on this particular day, I had no underpants to wear (they were all in the wash) and I had to just shove my jeans on and go. Well I go to see him and he starts asking me questions about my health and about my gut problem and I mentioned it was still there and he said "well, let's lie you down over there and I'll examine your pelvic area" and I thought "surely he won't need to go too far down'. I lay down and he said "I'll have to undo your jeans and pull them down a bit" and there I was, no underpants and he looks down and sees that staring at him and he just looks straight up at the ceiling and I lay there thinking "great, he probaby thinks I'm coming onto him". That was the quickest stomach and pelvic test I've ever had. He said "no, everything seems fine" and I thought what the hell can I say? "oh i just choose not to wear underpants, I think it's healthier and more airy". I left pretty quickly. I told my brother when I got home and he split himself laughing and said "the poor man is probably traumatised" and I said "shut up, he's a doctor, he's used to seeing that" and he said "He's not used to seeing it when he's not ready for it". So yeah, that was just great to hear.
sorry I know that was offtopic, but talk about those embarrassing situations. At least yours was more medical, mine just looked desperate.

Went to have an examination at the endocrinology dept for overactive thyroid and wasnt expecting to be asked to take all my clothes off except underwear. What underwear! I was really embarrassed at the time but now it makes me laugh. It was the quickest examination i ever had.

LOL!!!! These stories are so funny! I won't even tell you about the time I kicked a gynecologist in the head during an exam. It was a reflex to excruciating pain. I told him to be careful, that I thought I had a kidney stone, and he refused to listen and kept on and well, he got socked in the head.

omg!!! LOL, serves him right!!!!. I've had another embarrassing thing happen. My first smear test and this indian lady doctor told me to go behind the curtain and take my bottom garments off and lie down on the table. Well, for some bizzare reason, I thought she meant for me to lie on my stomach and I thought (? ) SO, I took them off and lay down on my stomach and she opened the curtain and said

sorry I didn't finish my post. She opened the curtain and sees me lying there, half naked with my rear end and all and she said "no no no, turn over" and I said "ohhhhhh ok". I felt totally humiliated. I don't know why I did that, I was 19 and I think I thought when she said "lie on your back" for some odd reason in my head, I got it confused (don't ask me how).

There was another time when i was a regular at the ENT clinic due to burning throat. The doctor put this camera which was like a fishing rod with a reel through my nostril down to my throat to see what was going on. I was so embarrassed, you can imagine the situation, me standing there in front of this gorgeous looking doctor, about my own age aswell, with this fishing rod up one nostril and him with the reel. My mum was there and we always laugh about it now.

Yeah that is true. It's good a bit of humor can still come out every now and again. That story you told with that doctor was very funny!! Dont worry I had a crush on my dentist and found it very difficult at times with my mouth being probed at the time and put on some weird angles, lol but yours was worse. I don't know how you kept from busting out laughing. I've done that before while the dentist was trying to inject my gums with this cleansing fluid and he had the mirror up and was showing me and I saw my mouth on this angle with my lips pulled up and I lost it, I just erupted and that mirror was covered with gum irrigant and saliva. So yeah, that was not the best time to laugh.
