Methionine is not recommended in mercury toxic people. it's as bad as cysteine. They are both sulfur amino acids and can stir mercury up wildly. They should never be used as chelating agents (yet some health professionals recommend them). They can both be VERY harmful.
They occur naturally in food and are ok, but usually in supplements, they are in much higher and concentrated amounts. You might get away with it if it's only a small amount, but be careful.
I used a liver detox capsule that had cyeteine and methionine in it in pretty highish amounts. I didn't know about this problem and I took it and got VERY ill.
Also I have cavitations and the bacteria from cavitations is a great danger with cysteine and methionine.

No problem. I've done it to myself too, recently with using garlic in supplement form (which I didnt' know contains naturally high levels of cysteine and methionine). The effects have been frightening. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
