just wondering what benefits people have noticed from taking vitamin E and or selenium. I know when I took them they only made me feel much worse, particularly selenium but I think that was because I had high copper levels and apparently vitamin E and selenium increase copper absorption. Now that my copper symptoms are dissapearing I'm more focused on mercury.
So what benefits did u guys notice from vitamin E or selenium?

Most people should not expect any change in symptoms when taking Vitamin E. The main reason to take it is to protect you brain from the oxidative effects of mercury.

Hi, yeah selenium and vitamin E act in the body as antioxidants, helping to protect the body somewhat from the effects of toxicity/mercury, but also encouraging glutathione levels in the body, which can help with detoxification.
Some people can notice from these vitamins alone that detox can increase. Selenium works by competing with the binding sites that mercury goes for and can displace mercury somewhat in the body. It can help with symptoms, but also can increase them other times due to the encouragement of moving/detoxing mercury. It does not directly chelate mercury, but can increase some detoxification due to it's effects.
Some people are so mercury toxic, that they have to take small amounts of selenium, or they get too much mercury detox symptoms. They start slow and build up a little. though it's not used for this purpose, it can happen. I've had it myself. Though I had also previously had a DMPS injection, so the mercury was readily available and obviously easily moved outwards, even by selenium's action.
You can also get selenium toxicity from overdose, so you have to make sure you're not taking too much. 200 mcg, is generally a pretty good dose, but not beyond 400 mcg. The symptoms of overdose are usually a feeling of numbness, and a strange taste in the mouth like garlic or bitter/strong. also sometimes feeling weird.spacey. If that happens, you just make sure you stop for a while to allow levels to fall and then start on a lower dose.
But selenium, vitamin E and vitamin C are VERY good to take for antioxidants for protection and help while you chelate.

Thank you for this excellent information. I live a little off-center of downwind of a coal burning powerplant which emits 720 pounds of mercury per year. For this reason, I am taking countermeasures against the mercury. Vitamin E and C are among my most common supplements. Here's exactly what I use: Vitamin C to purchase Vitamin E with Selenium to purchase

vitamin e is good and I did not notice any effects. But the selenium was another story. My copper is not high, and I have heard reference from others that selenium made them feel worse.

In my experience, rarely do people feel different when taking Vitamin E. I do, however, recommend it for mercury toxic persons for oxidative brain protection.
