Has anyone (mainly women) had any trouble when taking wormworm? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />
I started to take it a couple weeks ago. Then after not getting my period for months, I started to have some spotting. Then my period began a few days afterwards. It hasn't stopped yet & I've had it now for over a week.
Yesterday, it started to get real heavy. I mean REAL heavy. So I stopped taking everything. Now it is so bad that I am changing tampons every 2 hours. It seems that the blood is pouring out of me.
Is there anything that I can do to reverse it?
HELP!! I am getting really scared.

Although wormwood isn't terribly popular these days, it used to be used fairly commonly for amenorrhea (suppressed or absent menstruation) to stimulate menstruation. According to one of the textbooks I have that discusses herbal treatment for menstrual disorders, "For 1 or 2 months, there are likely to be unfamiliar changes in the menstrual cycle, occasionally even a worsening of the original problem Then from the third or fourth cycle there is often a real sense that a normal rhythm is emerging." It sounds as though your body may be trying to self-correct and is actually over-correcting for the moment. Stopping the wormwood is a good idea. You'll also want to be sure to eat plenty of foods that are rich in iron, so as not to develop an iron deficiency. If such heavy bleeding persists, you might consider taking Yarrow or even a female herbal formula called FCS II, which combines several herbs with similar actions for correcting menstrual problems. If you decide to see a doctor, be sure to have him/her check for fibroids, as this can sometimes be the case with profuse bleeding. However, since you haven't had a cycle for some months, this may just be your body readjusting, as I mentioned before. I hope this information helps. Keep us posted.

Hello, Lynn. When I was in the throes of the Change of Life, my period, which had never caused me any problems when I was younger, got way too heavy - just gushing for days on end. I did some reading on herbs, and made about a gallon of infusion of Nettle, Raspberry Leaf, Lady's Mantle and Yarrow. I drank this over 2 days, the bleeding stopped in its tracks and the next one was normal, once again, until menstruation ceased about 2 years afterward once and for all.
For what that is worth. If I were to tell a doctor this tale of successful self-medication, I'd be hooted out of his office, for sure.
Also, shepherd's purse is supposed to be just great for excessive bleeding of any kind. So, best of luck to you.

Thanks Laura for the great information. I started to take the Yarrow on Thursday. Things started to slow down the 1st day & as of today it is just about stopped. It has been over 2 weeks of heavy bleeding.
Thanks!
