Humans More Related To Orangutans Than Chimps, Study SuggestsNew evidence underscores the theory of human origin that suggests humans most likely share a common ancestor with orangutans, according to research from the University of Pittsburgh and the Buffalo Museum of Science. Reporting in the June 18 edition of the Journal of Biogeography, the researchers reject as "problematic" the popular suggestion, based on DNA analysis, that humans are most closely related to chimpanzees, which they maintain is not supported by fossil evidence.
Jeffrey H. Schwartz, professor of anthropology in Pitt's School of Arts and Sciences and president of the World Academy of Art and Science, and John Grehan, director of science at the Buffalo Museum, conducted a detailed analysis of the physical features of living and fossil apes that suggested humans, orangutans, and early apes belong to a group separate from chimpanzees and gorillas. But even the DNA isn't so friendly to the story it is so adamantly insisted we must believe New Chromosome Research Undermines Human-Chimp Similarity Claims A recent high-profile article in the journal Nature released the results of a study with implications that shocked the scientific community because they contradict long-held claims of human-chimp DNA similarity.
The title of the recent journal article accurately sums up the research findings: "Chimpanzee and Human Y Chromosomes are Remarkably Divergent in Structure and Gene Content."
From a large-scale perspective, the human and chimp Y chromosomes were constructed entirely differently. On the human Y chromosome, there were found four major categories of DNA sequence that occupy specific regions. One can think of this in terms of geography. Just as a continent like Europe is divided into countries because of different people groups, so are chromosomes with different categories of DNA sequence.
Not only were the locations of DNA categories completely different between human and chimp, but so were their proportions. One sequence class, or category containing DNA with a characteristic sequence, within the chimpanzee Y chromosome had less than 10 percent similarity with the same class in the human Y chromosome, and vice versa. Another large class shared only half the similarities of the other species, and vice versa. One differed by as much as 3.3-fold (330 percent), and a class specific to human "has no counterpart in the chimpanzee MSY [male-specific Y chromosome].
The Nature article expressed the discrepancy between this data and standard evolutionary interpretations in a rather intriguing way: "Indeed, at 6 million years of separation, the difference in MSY gene content in chimpanzee and human is more comparable to the difference in autosomal gene content in chicken and human, at 310 million years of separation." Just more science to ignore. Can't let facts interfere with Godlessness...

Oh That Is Such A Laugh Even If Not Really Funny! (((( Smiles )))) Weither it's Orangutans, Chimps or Apes or Dinosaurs instead of Dragons. You really educate people here do a good service and more people need to get educated about what they are doing to us with their push of evolution on us or the push of the vaccines on us. When I was a youth I use to go to the local museum and see the exibits of the ape people with their spears and stuff and thought WOW! Look at the ape people but didn't relate it to me back then as never seen any ape people except in a museum and then eventually in a Time magazine book long ago. In fact nobody has ever seen these ape people like that except in the museums or in drawn pictures and charts. Now, it's really being pushed at the schools like the vaccinations are and that was only the start of it it has evolved and now my daughters teacher announced they will be studying evolution and she wants to know what to do about it because she doesn't believe in it and she is upset by it but they will be graded on it and it will effect her grades at school. So we said just learn it the best you can get educated on what they believe and then continue on with what you believe to be true the other side of the coin as her faith is Christian.. Then she can get a balanced view of both sides which most kids probably don't get these days and we know there are things in the textbooks at school that are out of date nor balanced but the important thing is God's word never changes. But yes.. I see it as propaganda because one does not in the normal regular world need a dose of evolution as well as creationism in school to get a regular job these days. But if they do teach one they should teach the other but intil then. It's exactly what you posted right here. To Compel A Man To Furnish Funds For The Propagation Of Ideas He Disbelieves And Abhors Is Sinful And Tyrannical." - Thomas Jefferson And thats what they do and I believe alot of teachers are uncomfortable with that, as well. If they have a choice that is and expecially the freedom to state it without it effecting their JOB STATUS. See that's it.. Evolution should NOT be about JOBS and SCHOOLING unless one ELECTS to take it on the side. And one should be able to ELECT to take a study of CREATIONISM on the side too. If one wants to educate that is fair and balanced. But I don't think thats what it's all about anymore. They use OUR money to INDOCTRINATE our children and the MAJORITY of Americans believe in a GOD and are CHRISTIAN. Dedicated or not. So they need to explain what they are doing because alot of people don't buy it at all. Why they do this to our kids in school?

I just saw this article on ICR and thought, "Goodness gracious, even an elementary school child knows humans and apes are NOT in the same family! ---- -If Apes Evolved into Humans, Why Do We Still Have Apes? -By: John D. Morris, Ph.D. This question often crops up among evolution disbelievers. And while it underscores the truth that most people truly don't believe man came from rats, fish, and single-celled organisms up through the primates, it ignores the fact that evolutionists have a ready answer to it. First, evolutionists strongly deny the idea that men came from the apes. They insist that both man and the apes came from a hypothetical ape-like ancestor, the evidence for which has not yet been discovered. Secondly, evolution does not propose that all members of a type evolved into another type, but that only a small group of individuals, genetically isolated from the others, evolved, leaving the others to remain the same. A perceptive person will recognize that both of these points are nothing more than story telling. The hypothetical ape-like ancestor does not exist, and there is no evidence that it ever did. The "peripheral isolates" claim may sound reasonable, and there are recent examples of isolated groups acquiring new traits through adaptation, but none of any group acquired new suites of functioning genes through random mutation, such as production of either an ape or a man from an ape-like ancestor would require. Instead of asking why we still have apes, we should be asking why don't we have the hypothetical ape-like ancestor, the real missing link ? Or, why don't we have the required intermediate forms? How can such change happen? The claim that transitional individuals were few in number, and thus unlikely to be fossilized and discovered, rings hollow. The fact is, we don't have them ! The evolution claims are only stories. In their story, man and apes diverged from the imaginary ancestor some seven million years ago. Surely some would be fossilized. We should also ask, how could such a transition happen? The only way we know to acquire new genes is to alter existing genes through random mutation. The best alteration science has observed has produced only novel recombinations -- most deteriorate the genetic information and thus harm the offspring. Many mutations are fatal. Evolution requires trillions of innovative mutations to produce man from lower forms, and at least millions to produce man or apes from an ape-like ancestor. None have been observed. Evolution tales are pseudo-scientific stories about an imaginary history. Evolution is best understood as an anti-God origins myth, attempting to explain man's existence without a Creator. We can do better. *Dr. John D. Morris is the President of the Institute for Creation Research.

-What Distinguishes Man From Ape? -By: John D. Morris, Ph.D. - As one might imagine, different answers to this question come from different "authorities." Obviously, creationists and evolutionists disagree, but major schools of thought vie among evolutionists. Earlier in this century, it was thought that as apes became humans, they evolved bigger brains. Now, most evolutionists hold the view that brain size is secondary in importance to erect posture. Walking upright allowed some apes to use their hands more to fashion and use tools. But still controversy swirls, with some thinking that tree-dwelling apes could sometimes walk erect, while others contend that pre-humans lived on the plains and never lived in trees. The tree-dwelling view was given a boost recently by the discovery (or re-discovery) of four foot bones in a sack of bones originally collected in the 1920s and thought to be animal bones. Drs. Tobias and Clarke identify the heel bone as rather human-like, but the bones leading to the big toe indicate that it was long and curved, capable of grasping, just like a chimp's foot. Here was proof! A transitional form! A chimp-like creature which swung through the trees had a heel more reminiscent of upright-walking humans! Nearly every newspaper in the country, maybe around the world, carried the news. The find was placed within the grouping known as "Australopithecus," which includes the famous "Lucy." "Lucy" was quite chimp-like, 3'6" tall, with a chimp-sized brain, chimp-like dentation, and a body style little different from modern chimps. Only controversial (among evolutionists) interpretations of Lucy's hip and (even more questionable) knee give any hint of slightly more erect posture than chimps. In short, Lucy was a chimp-like creature, perhaps with some unusual features, but chimp-like nevertheless. But Lucy's feet weren't preserved. Now this find takes her and her kin back into the trees. All the while labeling the foot as a human ancestor, Dr. Tobias claimed: "Australopithecus was far more ape-like in many of its features than we'd ever dared imagine previously." Even more remarkably, he said this fossil foot solved the mystery of who had made the Laetoli footprints found in Tanzania 20 years ago, which were indistinguishable from human footprints. It seems that investigators are seeing what they want to see. The evidence points to Australopithecus being an ape, perhaps with certain habits and features different from modern apes, but still an ape. Large gaps between humans and apes are ignored. Creationists contend that while humans and apes have much in common (after all, we live in the same world, breathe the same air, eat the same kinds of food, have hearts that pump blood, etc.), the differences lie in other areas. Created in the image of God, mankind possesses the ability to communicate abstract thought, appreciate beauty, express love, and know right from wrong. Most importantly, man has an eternal spirit and can choose to accept or reject the Creator's kingship over their lives. It seems Australopithecus fossils are a convenient (but lame) excuse for rejection.
