Hi Steve, If you decide to use dmsa, I highly recommend you start with a low, frequent dosage protocol -- namely Dr. Andy Cutler's. I wouldn't just go experimenting with 100mg dosages of dmsa -- sometimes bad things can happen. For example, you can actually end up redistributing the mercury and making things worse without the proper dosages and schedule. I highly recommend you check out Cutler's site: http://www.noamalgam.com/Tom

Don't do it if you still have silver dental fillings.

Hi, keep this in mind if you decide to use the chemical:
Extended use of DMSA can cause mild to moderate neutropenia with increased SGOT, SGPT, Platelet count, Cholesterol, Alkaline Phosphatase and Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN). Adverse reactions to DMSA include ataxia, convulsions, rash, nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, headache, dizziness, sensorimotor neuropathy, decreased urination, arrhythmia, infection. Zinc excretion doubles during the administration of DMSA. Patients must be kept hydrated as renal function can be compromised.

Thanks for the information, I was planning on using DMSA for about a week, 50mg every 4 hours, then stopping for a while.
Bearing in mind what you said, I think I'll take zinc and plenty of water when taking DMSA, and perhaps stop if I feel i'm reacting badly.
Oh, and yeah my silver fillings were removed just over 3 months ago.

I've heard the same thing about white blood cells, but can't quite place the source. Do you have a source or a reference on that? The reason I ask is because I already have neutropenia, and don't want to make it worse. I have not experienced any noticeable side effects from dmsa so far, using a low, frequent dosage schedule, but my WBC is a concern. Thanks, Tom

Hi Tom
I found the info on Dr. Mercolas' site while researching side-effects. I was having severe kidney and liver pain whilst on very low dose DMSA. I guess it's not for me.....
