What causes cravings for sweets? Both my daughter & I have them so I normally keep all junk food out of the house. For dessert & special occasions, we usually have fruit - such as apples, pears, etc which don't give us any problems.
Yesterday, I had to do some baking so my husband could bring something to work for his holiday party. There were a few small pieces that fell off the bundt cake that I made - nothing bigger than the size of a dime. My 9 1/2 daughter ate them. This morning she had a really bad episode - probably LBS. It started at about 7 AM & ended 1 1/2 hours later. I tried to get her to eat something but she refused. She also went to school on an empty stomach.
I hope this doesn't happen again. But if it does, is there anything I can do so it will subside?
Thanks!

heh, deja vu. Read this thread. I don't state I had craving for sweets, but I was certainly eating a lot. One word: candida. It feeds on yeast and sugar.

When I had amalgam fillings still in, I had terrible sweet cravings and had a horrible diet because of it. Although I believe the source can be a combination of physical and emotional causes ("emotional" manifestations are often physical), it's mostly physical and I found out how to get rid of them. I believe it's caused by (among other things) insulin issues which are horribly interfered with by mercury. When my amalgams came out, I had a sudden drop in my cravings for sweets and it has continued to drop ever since. While the fillings were still in, I took GTF Chromium and it made all the difference in the world in reducing my sweet cravings. I shared them with a friend who also had amalgams and she experienced exactly the same thing. I took 2 caps per day. I also tried chromium picolinate which made no difference at all and is simply a patented source of chromium. Chromium and vanadium are used by the body for sugar processing and in the absence of them, sugar is handled more as a toxin (in many respects) than a nutrient.

Totally agree with the candidia thing. I used Kyolic garlic and probioitics to kill it off and avoided sugar and cheese for about three weeks. Now that I have had my amalgams removed, I like Russ, have noticed a decline in my desire for sweets altogether. It has to be something homemade and really yummy and not to sweet to even tempt me to eat it!
