I've been doing as much research as I can about candida and amalgams, and I'd be grateful for your views. I have a full house of mercury toxicity - high reading in a hair analysis, candida, leaky gut, malabsorption, food sensitivities, very restricted diet, stuffy nose, sore throat, muscle twitches, depression, fatigue - the works. This all started after a dentist removed a mercury filling without precautions over a year ago - and I've been living this nightmare ever since. I also have Gilberts Syndrome, which means I detoxify slowly. Now the candida and leaky gut have taken over my life, and I am struggling to maintain my weight (I am already very thin and can't afford to lose more) I was wondering whether it was worth blasting the candida with something like ThreeLac - just to get regain some territory. I have read so many things - some (Healthydetox) that say you shouldn't treat the candida as it will release the mercury (which I think I actually experienced when I first started taking probiotics), and others that say (including Andy Cutler) fixing the gut has to be done (and surely any attempt to mobilize the mercury via the gut would be a disaster if it's leaky?). I feel I am getting weaker and thinnner, able to eat less and less - this can't be good. With 12 amalgams to remove, (I start in two weeks time) I have a long haul ahead (at least a year), and I need to find a way of living throughout this without becoming a skeletal wreck. So, treat the candida, or not?

From everything I have read I would wait on treating the candida until the fillings are out.
But you will have to take it slow. Primal defense is a great probiotic, grapefruit seed extract also.
I would probably just take primal defense at a moderate dose for now. And then after you get your fillings out; after you are settled then start with the full anti candida.
I went on a anti candida diet once and I had a strong healing reaction. And to be honest I am not even sure candida was my problem ie I've tried 100's of things to cure my asthma like condition and this was just one of them.
good luck any questions about my treatment protocol feel free to ask

Hi. I don't have leaky gut but if I did I would start with oriental herbs of a warming quality that help to heal the gut. There are lots of sites on the w.w.w. with no shortage of info on which herbs might be suitable. I myself, when taking oriental herbs, favour teas/decoctions rather than pills. If it were me, I would find a practitioner of TCM who speaks English well and understands things from a western perspective, i.e. "candida" & "leaky gut" rather than just the oriental "energetic" aspect.
Animals feel pain & suffering just as we do, and they value their lives as much as we value ours.

oh wow...you really sound like me a year ago. i had all my 9 amalgams out, felt great for a month, then BOOM. horrible heavy metal toxicity and candida. i lost so much weight and couldn't eat or get out of bed for months. i went on a anti-candida diet, didn't do the three-lac <heard it really didn't work in the long run>the diet is more long lasting and i got good candida diet tips and support from http://www.askshelley.com/you also have to get your minerals in order. i found out i was low on potassium and vitamin D. this was stuff i never heard of befor this whole amalgam thing started. i never detoxed with any products, i just can't <couldn't> handle it, so i went very natural and slow. it's been a year and the nervousness is less<it was horrible befor>. it's going to take time, but doing the candida diet helps alot. have you had a hair analysis test done yet? ~janey~

yes I had a hair analysis which showed high levels, as it was about 7 months after the filling removal. I also had a big tuna fish habit. Did your dentist take precautions when he took out your amalgams? Mine will do it slowly - one or two at a time, with the rubber dam and oxygen tubes - as I can't afford to be bedridden with three small children. I am also taking NDF Plus and Nature's Biotics - an SBO-based probiotic - to try and detox slowly. I have good days and bad days, but I am getting very fed up with the restricted diet, and it can't be good for the body to eliminate complex carbohydrates, but my gut problems are horrendous if I eat potatoes, pasta or bread, even carrots, and it makes me feel hungover and foggy the next day. I am also taking the usual milk thistle, Vit C, zinc, Vit B and minerals. Just some days I feel so weak, and I don't know how I'm going to tolerate a year of amalgam removal, and I know it's going to be such a long time before I get better. It's so depressing.

i hear ya imgeha. i too couldn't be bedridden..but had to at times. thank God it was at a time when school had just started. how many amalgams do you have and how many to go? i couldn't do the whole detox thing, only the candida diet and just regular vitamins, vitamin C & D and some thing homeopathic called "aqua flora". that's it. i tried the "huggins recovery program"and it made matters worse for me. also colonics helped ALOT. you will start to feel better soon...just hang in there. right now i am battling TMJ. it's so painful...because i had all that dental work done, my jaw was open for way to long and i'm in pain.
