Hello,
I had my last amalgam removed yesterday safely by a holistic dentist.
However i am not particulary impressed with his detox plan - i have been chronically ill - housebound for near on 4 years and have been ill much longer than that - i have succesfully treated various infections CP,CPn, adrenal are working much better and only recently tested very high for mercury levels.
The dentis detox plan is as follows
Week 1-4 do nothing Week 5 -8 - take homeopathic remedies to strengthen the body 9 onwards - introduce chlorrela and maybe OSR - he wont touch DMSA
He also mentioned looking at various blood chemistry but nothing definate. no plan to do any tests, no plan to even get me the OSR
So basically its 8 weeks of doing very little so seems like a whole waste of time to me. Has anyone ever seen a protocol like this?
The homeopathic stuff is Lymphomyosot, nux vomica homaccord and berberis homaccord.
Bearing in mind i cant get DMSA or DMPS via him and only OSR i feel stuck... i have turned the taps off but cant empty the bath - and considering i took ALA for possibly two years prior to amalgam removal as a suggested supplement when treating CPn, the mercury is probably all over the shop in me.
I have my own FIR sauna and plan to start doing those daily if i can tollerate them - other than that has anyone any recommendation? Has anyone had their amalgams out and spookily recovered by doing nothing? Is waiting 8 weeks a good idea?
i feel as though taking a chelator that helps mop my insides out would help enourmously - and i have never been one for letting my body heal itself - i tried that for years -it didnt help.
Would trying to get OSR now and start using that be a good idea? I doubt he will go for it but you never know.
Any suggestion and advice welcome
Many thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,
I've been in a similar situation. It is difficult I know. In the end, for me personally? I wound up doing it my way. I went back onto the DMSA Cutler style, because the prescribed detox I was given was not working out and in fact making symptoms intolerable. I gave it a try though, but it was making me really sick.
Your mercury blood levels will decline naturally in the first 3 months after the last amalgam removal even if you do nothing. DMSA is an optional help during this and may make things easier, more efficient and quicker. But, it is the ALA that is essential once blood levels are down (after the 3 months) and it's safe to start using it.
Sauna will do probably do much the same job as DMSA anyway. So if you can't get DMSA, then stick with sauna, but never do more than you can handle. Go easy on yourself. If you can get DMSA online, then it may help this process along and may help control some of the symptoms also as it grabs the mercury.
Chlorella maybe healthy in many aspects, but for me, due to the mercury I had, it was quite intolerable. I had many backlashes from that, because I kept trying to use it. Yes, it does move mercury, but for some, it maybe far too much. I must have been already high in sulfur or something. Some find the stuff is great. But it was a big risk for me. I finally quit it.
As for the homeopathic remedies he's suggesting, it sounds like "HEELS" detox kit. I have used this in the past. Very potent stuff. Stimulates the organ systems of elimination and I believe it strengthens them. You might be surprised at what this stuff can do. It most definitely does help your body release toxins, but it is easy to go overboard. A little goes a long way with this stuff. I learned for me that I could not take the suggested amounts, nor remain on it for long periods, because my body could not keep up with the amount of toxins/metals being released. So I started off with a much less amount of drops but in the same amount of water they had suggested. And followed the direction to drink it throughout the day. When I found things getting too much? I was silly enough to try and keep going and would often flood my body which could not keep up with amount of toxins being released. You start to listen to your body more over time and you realise it is more important to do that than to rigidly stick to fulfilling the complete regime. It is pointless to keep pushing yourself, as it achieves nothing, other than your body then having to try and deal with the aftermarth. I would see how you go with this.
If you find yourself getting too many symptoms like myself, and things are out of control? Then it may not be wise to continue, unless you find a lower dose is the key and you can handle that. This is where sauna may also help, because it is helpful to eliminate toxins via the pores.
I'm not sure about the OSR because I don't know enough about it. I would check what it contains. Find this out because you have a right to know.
For me, regardless of the detoxes I tried, or suggested or prescribed regimes, I found that Andy Cutler's protocol was the one that seemed to work the best and keep symptoms at a tolerable level. It was when I used his protocol, even with DMSA alone, that I was making more steady progress. Though I did other things that helped it along. Like moderate exercise to stimulate circulation and sweating, which also helped release toxins, hot baths with epsom salts (or baking soda and sea salt), which also helped release toxins via the pores. Good quality antioxidants (mainly C, E and selenium), fish oil (mercury free). and a good diet which included consuming more raw foods (fruits/vegetables), no gluten/wheat products or yeast, no sugar, and making sure I got enough good protein foods in eggs/meat and of coures fats like butter.
I did mess around sometimes and did try other ways of detoxing, but again, always went back to Cutler's. I remember being prescribed a plan by a professional for detoxing mercury, and again, my symptoms were intolerable. I had to finally quit, and I went back onto DMSA and was able to actually heal the reaction! So not only does it chelate, but it can also help improve a bad redistribution reaction from something else. I often used it in emergency type backlash situations to help me recover from them.
But again, all in all, ALA seems to be THE final way to go with chelation of brain and other organs. But never when blood levels are still too high. Everything else you do should be to aid your body in healing from this condition and are highly important also. Some people have found diet, exercise (moderate), and herbal cleanses to be crucial to their overall gradual recovery from this condition. Parasite cleanses, bowel cleanses, and even the homeopathic cleanses you are doing may help, as long as they don't create too many symptoms. You need to help your body detox, build and recover with the right materials as you chelate the mercury.
Bottom line is, it is your body! So no professional can force a protocol on you that you are not happy about. You have every right to go elsewhere or use a protocol that better suits you.

Do the detox on your own, or find a physician to assist you. You can get DMSA and/or ALA on your own. The first thing I advise is a one month parasite cleanse. Many here have had parasites. A good parasite cleanse has at least these 3 herbs- wormwood, black walnut green hull extract, and cloves. Some have other herbs as well such as quassia. You can supplement this with raw garlic. Are you taking vitamin and mineral supplements? Many people are deficient in magnesium, zinc, vitamin c, iron, and and some other nutrients. Some people like the idea of detoxification by taking high doses of iodine(25-50 mg a day). http://www.iodine4health.com/I also like the idea of taking msm and molybdenum supplements to help with detoxification.

thats for all the information - very much appreciated.
The detox kit is the HEEL kit - its nice to hear of some one else using it - i will heed your advice and proceed very slowly.
It is also nice to hear that mercruy level will come down by themselves - i 'stupidly' did a challenge test before all this and my initial urine sample (prior to taking the biomer capsules) was high so i took this as a sign my body was trying its hardest to get rid of the mercury in there.
If the sauna will do a similar job to dmsa i think i will go with the sauna for a week or two to see how i feel - then add Heel detox kit for a couple of weeks - then either go with OSR at 50mg every 6 hours - or try and find DMSA and go it alone on the cutler protocol.
My biggest health complaint at the moment is my muscle do not work - they are constantly running in anerobic mode producing lactic acid which is then blocking atp recycling - which the mercury is probably doing too! At worst i can hardly stand - at best i can stand a few mins.
I will look into the parasite cleanse - although i have been on the wheldon protocol for bacterila infections and have done a course of IVERMECTIN for a nematode infection (cryptostrongylus pulmoni)- the latter is a broad spectrum anti parasite med, and as a side effect cured my hey fever!
Currently taking
Vit B Complex - 50 DHEA - 25mg CoQ10 - 100mg Vit E - 400IU Omega 3 - 1000mg NAC - 2x 600mg Magnesium Malate - 1000mg Zinc Picolinate - 30mg zinc 2mg copper Milk thistle - 7 drops with every meal
Emergen C drink - 1000mg Vit C + many other things twice a day
I probably should up my magnesium as i had the TL mito studies done and it showed i was low in magnesium.
Thanks again for the advice.

"My biggest health complaint at the moment is my muscle do not work - they are constantly running in anerobic mode producing lactic acid which is then blocking atp recycling - which the mercury is probably doing too! At worst i can hardly stand - at best i can stand a few mins." Two things that are very helpful to boost muscle function are creatine and carnitine. You may also want to add iron bisglycinate, chromium GTF and sublingual B12 tablets. http://www.flcv.com/cfsfm.htmlI find that raw garlic, and a potent olive leaf extract(I am now using the Olympian brand 500 mg capsules) are very helpful. Other spices are helpful also, such as cinnamon, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. You should increase the magnesium malate to 1000 mg three times a times. Molybdenum is very helpful to combat aldehydes(which are a candida waste product). Molybdenum is an antagonist of copper, so take those supplements at diffecrent meals. I take the 1,000 mcg Thorne molybdenum capsules, which is the most potent and least expensive molybdenum I have found. Make sure to get enough calcium. I eat plenty of plain lowfat yogurt, and take my vitamin c as calcium ascorbate. Make sure to get enough sodium and potassium in your diet. Don't laugh, but I realized recently that my sodium intake was under 500 mg a day, as I eat mostly natural very low sodium food. Now I make sure to remember to add salt to my food.

You should also add msm to your regimen. It is a great source of sulphur which is very important for detoxification. I found that milk thistle didn't help me very much, however licorice root tea, and Triple Leaf Detox Tea are very helpful when I feel my worst.

I read some of the article . I believe that pharmaceuticals especially psychiatric ones , cortisone and other hormones and toxic chemicals are more likely to be responsible for chronic fatigue syndrome than viruses or bacteria. Also , you are less succeptible to infection if you don't use immunosuppressive pharmaceuticals and steroids.

You're welcome. Blood levels of mercury will eventually reduce with or without a chelator, but chelation can make this process faster, easier and more efficient. Either way, organ mercury maybe significant and and requires chelation I believe. The body does start dumping organ mercury at some point following amalgam removal, and that can make a person feel very sick and poisoned, which is why chelation is required to grab that mercury before it fills you back up again and help prevent it from settling elsewhere or being potentially stirred up and eventually entering the brain, and at the sametime helping to chelate the brain of the mercury already there. It's unfortunate that mercury can get into the brain, but cannot come back out very easily. ALA can chelate the brain and other organs, but only once blood levels are reduced as mentioned earlier. DMSA does not chelate the brain to any clinical degree, though I believe it is pretty powerful stuff and really helpful to use early on in the programme. But sounds like you got some detox plans in place to help you before you start a brain chelator. I wish you well with them! If the sauna will do a similar job to dmsa i think i will go with the sauna for a week or two to see how i feel - then add Heel detox kit for a couple of weeks - then either go with OSR at 50mg every 6 hours - or try and find DMSA and go it alone on the cutler protocol. Defintely keep us posted how you go when you decide to try this out. I'll be interested to hear it. As you detox more mercury, you should start to note changes over time. Though it's hard to see them as you're going through the detox. In the long run, you may begin to notice "something" as the good moments become better and last longer and eventually become more prolonged as the bad moments become a little less "bad" and less prolonged. My biggest health complaint at the moment is my muscle do not work - they are constantly running in anerobic mode producing lactic acid which is then blocking atp recycling - which the mercury is probably doing too! At worst i can hardly stand - at best i can stand a few mins. I've had this from mercury, candida, parasites, virus etc. Plus, I've had it with healing crisis/detoxing. So it's hard to say what maybe causing this. Either way, the less toxins you have and the less your body has to compensate and try and deal with them, the more strength you should eventually gain. The supplements you listed sound ok to me. Some may have some issues with NAC, because it's a sulfur containing amino acid. Which can sometimes create issues with mercury, given such products may have the tendency to stir it up and make one feel worse. But others can find it really helpful to them, for the liver (glutathione enchancing). Sometimes you do have to experiment a little, because what suits one, does not always suit the other. Things I tried that made me feel worse, made someone else feel better. Not sure about DHEA. I don't know much about all these things, only the basics. I have tried experiements by going off all supplements, taking a break and seeing how I feel. Then trying them out one by one and testing reactions. Sometimes that can help if you are not sure.

In Sanskrit, tulsi means literally "the incomparable one" and has been revered since ancient times. Tulsi, the holy basil, is said to have grown at the site of Christ’s crucifixion and is associated with St. Basil’s feast.

I don't think it is one or the other. Toxic chemicals and nutritional deficiencies cause immune suppression, then infection with bacteria, viruses, and/or parasites occurs.
