Hi folks! I took today off as a vacation day from work (woohoooo!!)

So this morning I found a nifty letter you can fax to your congressman- with names and fax numbers at bottom to fight for ridding Thimerosol from vaccines--

By the way- I now know why I always like that Senator Lieberman. He is open to listen to our info on this and has appealed to Congress to look into this further, mentioning to them that it seems more than a coincidence that Autism rates have really increased incredibally since Thimerasol was used.

Here is the letter--with fax numbers you can copy and fax. I dont own a fax machine and my job won't let any employee use theirs:

Dear Member of the Senate Appropriations Committee,

I urge you to work to include report language in the Labor HHS
appropriations bill that validates the need for NIEHS to coordinate
studies on the association between Thimerosal and autism.

We applaud the effort by Senators Lieberman, Harkin and Specter to
insert language in the Labor HHS conference report to have the National
Institute of Environmental Health Science ("NIEHS") fund studies of
the VSD with CDC and external researchers and have this research
overseen by an expert panel that includes consumers and parents of
children who have been injured by Thimerosal in vaccines.

There is substantial support for this effort in the scientific
community. Two former NIEHS directors support this effort and say if
this language appears, the current NIEHS director will act.

The reason why this is so important is that beginning in 1988 the
amount of Thimerosal in routine mandatory vaccines given to American
children dramatically increased. By 1992 the amount children received
tripled to levels that far exceeded the available EPA standard for
organic mercury exposure. During the very same period the autism rate
increased from approximately 1 in 2000 children to 1 in 166, a dramatic
increase that has not been satisfactorily explained.

The Vaccine Safety Data Link ("VSD") is a database maintained by the
Centers for Disease Control ("CDC") and paid for with public funds.
It is a valuable source of statistical data to determine possible
causes of disease in our children. Even though the public has paid for
this unique resource, the public has no meaningful access to the VSD.
In February of 2005 the Institute of Medicine issued a report
criticizing the CDC's mishandling of the VSD. The IOM report strongly
suggested that the CDC's of the VSD was illegal. This situation is
unacceptable. Our nation is in the middle of a public health emergency
because of the soaring autism rates--the VSD is a valuable resource
that can aid our understanding of what has caused the rise in rates of
neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism. The VSD should be made
available to researchers outside the CDC ("external researchers")
immediately.

Of immediate and continuing concern is the fact that Thimerosal remains
in most flu shots in amounts that far exceed acceptable levels as
established by the EPA and FDA. Most vaccines-not just flu shots -
that we ship off to third world nations contain the same dangerous
amounts of Thimerosal. For this reason it is imperative that we
actively and openly study the one database that was constructed by our
government for the very purpose of understanding whether vaccines or
their constituents have anything to do with the astronomical increase
in chronic diseases in children, including autism.

Epidemiological studies of these issues have been done, but only one
study has been done using the VSD and no studies have involved all the
stakeholders in this issue, that is, consumers, parents of affected
children and those who are concerned about vaccine safety.

As a citizen who is acutely concerned about the issue of VSD access I
will be watching you, as an elected representative, to make sure that
the concerns of the American people are protected through the
legislative process.

Please do your job and make sure that the truth is determined through
sound and honest science. Please support report language in the Labor
HHS appropriations bill that reflects and promotes the need for NIEHS
to coordinate studies on the association between Thimerosal and autism.
Support the initiative to make the VSD available to honest researchers.

Support the initiative taken by Senators Lieberman, Spector and Harkin
and in so doing help protect a generation of American children and
children worldwide.

Sincerely,
