Those who don't like evolutionolgy when it gets nitty-gritty are advised to tune out or proceed with caution. I'll be discussing some of the things one observes at the following two links. They intend to be ugly and offensive, so don't follow the links if you don't want to see ugly and see offensive.
http://www.evolvefish.com/fish/emblems.htmlhttp://evolvefish.com/There is much that could be said, and I'm undecided just how deep it is prudent to dig. For this post I'll focus on the brazen anything-but-the-truthism.
We have the world's biggest collection of fish emblems for your car! Evolve emblems, Darwin emblems, Science emblems, Peace Emblems, Flying Spaghetti Monster Emblems, Pirate Fish, Gefilte Emblems... these are the perfect response to the ever-growing numbers of 'Jesus' emblems on the back of fundamentalist vehicles. All emblems are made in the USA and altho they appear to be metal they are a durable lightweight plastic and easily attach using the 2-way tape on the back. Display your freethinking emblems with pride!
Perfect response? For one who is indifferent, the perfect response is to ignore, is it not? These people are not indifferent.
They're not really much else they claim to be either. If they opposed all religions, would they not have materials insulting to Mohammad and Buddha? That'd make sense, but instead they actually have a "Buddha fish"! They have a "Gefilte Fish" too.
That's not all. They have a "Pagan fish" and a "Satan fish" as well.
The long-and-short of it is that they really only oppose truth. They'll happily support anything else, at least superficially.
Now if you think about it, no true Buddhist wants a "Buddha fish". For the any actual Buddhist, Buddhism isn't simply about mocking Christians and opposing truth. I've known a few; that's not their goal in life.
The "Gefilte Fish" can only appeal to atheistic types. Are the Jews in such dire need of a symbol that they're compelled to modify a symbol used by Christians? I think not.
Actions speak louder than words. "We're cool with anything - anything at all - so long as it isn't true," they say in no uncertain terms.
Shoot - they even have a Caduceus Emblem included in the collection of hateware.
The caduceus is a winged staff with two snakes wrapped around it. It was an ancient symbol that was carved into temples dedicated to the Greek god Hermes. Hermes was known as the messenger for the gods, a powerful healer, conductor of the dead and protector of merchants and thieves. Interestingly enough, the caduceus was also a powerful symbol in the practice of alchemy, and apothecary, which helped to further it (along with its associations with healing Hermes) as a symbol for the medical business.
All that hype isn't given as a sales pitch to M.D.'s, now is it?
