I received this email today...
Another thing to think about:
We contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.--Winston Churchill
SOCIAL SECURITY: was conceived by Herbert Hoover. Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:
1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary,
2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes into the Program,
3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,
4.) That the money the participants put into the independent "Trust Fund" rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and,
5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income. Clinton took care of this part.
Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to "put away," you may be interested in the following:
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent "Trust" fund and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democratically-controlled House and Senate.
Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?
A: The Democratic Party.
Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?
A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the "tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S.
Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?
MY FAVORITE : A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive SSI Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!
Then, after doing all this lying and thieving and violation of the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away! And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens believe it!
If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe good changes will evolve.
How many people can YOU send this to?
Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.

Very interesting!
I''m Independent- leaning toward Democrat, yet I have mixed views of each party.
Senator Kennedy really showed his true negative colors to me when he so emphatically wanted to appeal the temporary win for Ephreda to get back onto the market.
Why did it mean so much to him that Ephreda be taken off of the market--- certainly he isnt that compassionate about the health of the American people.
I read between the lines after reading his arrogant vehement outrage over Ephreda (being temporarily ruled as okay for sale again) and realized that day that no political party really cares about the American people. And the Democrats are just as much greedy hypocrites as many of the Republicans.

I generally agree with you. However, I am a conspiratorialist meaning that I believe there are numerous conspiracies being covered up by the mainstream media. I have NOT come to this conclusion because I want to. I wish it were not true. I simply did my research and determined that it IS true whether I like it or not. Both parties offer a slightly different menu to make people feel like they are getting a choice, when in truth, neither is offering the choice that made this country what is was. I would recommend The Constitution Party for that.

Politically, I am the equivalent of the US democrats, but in all honesty I have no confidence in any mainstream political party here in the UK. Who I will vote for at the next polls, I don't know. Green party maybe <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I find many so-called "open minded" people with alleged "left-winged" beliefs who demonstrate devout contempt for unpresident George W. Bush and anything Republican, particularly due to the war in Iraq. That's great and all, except for one thing. What these perhaps humane yet nonetheless misguided people don't realise is the bloodshed and terror caused by (their hero) unpreseident Bill Clinton during his reign alongside the war criminal Madelein Albright. Their bloodthirsty tour of Serbia has left thousands without families, homes, and has caused a direct impact on the increase of cancer by way of United States WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION, a form of arms used routinely by the corrupt American plutocracy (dictatorship). As far as I'm concerned, Democrats and Republicans are only setup to look different so that Americans can continue to lie to themselves by saying "We're free! We're free!" When this couldn't be further from the truth. In closing, here's a nifty quote I dug up which, admittedly, steers more leftward than right, but still sums up what, for me, is the definition of democrat vs republican and that is: SAME F*%#ing DIFFERENCE! Elephant and donkey, the respective mascots of the Republican (GOP) and Democrat parties in the USA. Corporations own them both. The rightist Republican Party gets more corporate donations, so Republicans lead and Democrats follow, obey, and grovel before their corporate masters. It's a Republicrat one-party pseudo-democracy, and corporatist dictatorship.

Oh wait, I just found an even better quote! This one really moves me. "The only difference between Bush and Gore is the velocity with which their knees hit the floor when corporations knock at the door."
-- Ralph Nader, 2000 election. America, with its bloody, tyrannical history, is not and never was a democracy. It is a plutocracy dominated by unsavory, unscrupulous venal whores who bow before one thing only: the dollar sign. From its very inception, the United States has been a genocide-spawning machine. As historin David E. Stannard once wrote: "The destruction of the Indians of the Americas was, far and away, the most massive act of genocide in the history of the world." In spite of that fact, the typical, mentally-sleeping American remains only vaguely aware of the horrific holocaust of American Indians. Yet every single locality where Americans make their homes today is consecrated to the cause of cruel, racist inhumanity ? with the blood of Indian people. Every single locality where Americans make their homes today is the scene of the murder, rape, torture and impoverishment of the Indian people who lived there first. But mainstream Americans would choke on their apple pie if they dared to think about that. Too many Americans would rather stick their heads in the sand about our evil history ? just as they stick their heads in the sand about what is happening today. Why can Germany own up to their evil history but not America? Why do we honour vile murderers like Christopher Columbus with holidays? This would be akin to Germany honouring Hitler's birthday as a memorial celebration. In the centuries after Christopher Columbus the Butcher, more than 100 million native people fell under the sadistic, racist rule of the invading European-Americans. I'm digressing but one can only condlude the following about democrats and republicans both, about America's wholly satanic, evil empire: HISTORY PROVES that America, the self-proclaimed champion of "human rights" and "democracy", has, in reality, worked long and hard to "Make The World Safe" for an inhuman corporate PLUTOCRACY. HISTORY PROVES that the United States Corporate Mafia Government is the worldwide Enemy of Democracy and of Humanity itself. American domestic and foreign policy is now, and has always been, dictated fundamentally by economics ? not by moral and political values. All the talk of "democracy" and "human rights" is just so much spin for popular consumption. It has never been "We the People," but a ruling plutocracy of ultra-wealthy landowners, slave-owners and corporations that have been the ultimate power behind the U.S. government from the beginning. If you're intellectually honest, if you've got a social and political conscience ? especially if you have the guts to ACT on it ? you discover real fast that those in America are not living in a "democracy."
