The Leading Cause of Death Globally - Likely Has Been for Decades
An interesting fact from the Journal of the American Medical Association:
"DRUG-RELATED morbidity and mortality have been estimated to cost more than $136 billion a year in the United States. These estimates are higher than the total cost of cardiovascular care or diabetes care in the United States. A major component of these costs is adverse drug reactions (ADEs). In addition, ADEs may account for up to 140,000 deaths annually in the United States."

It's widely accepted that less then 2% of ADEs are reported as being such. Death is nearly always attributed to the disease being treated by the drug or the sudden onset of another symptom. Therefore it's likely that deaths from doctor-prescribed pharmaceutical drugs exceed 2.8 million yearly in the United States alone.
This makes doctor-prescribed drugs the #1 killer on Earth, by far.
